11 Outfits Allison Williams Totally Rocked

by Sebastian Zulch

If you've been paying attention to your social media feed at all, you would know that everyone is talking about Allison Williams' wedding dress. Williams married her fiancé, co-founder of CollegeHumor Ricky Van Deen, this past weekend with family, friends, and Girls costars in attendance. And if you've seen Williams wear any outfit, you wouldn't be surprised to know that she chose an incredibly tasteful and stunning wedding gown to accompany her on her big day. But before we get to that, let's remember some of the greatest outfits Williams has rocked over the past couple years, as well as what makes her great in the first place.

Known best for her starring role as HBO's Girl's Marnie Michaels, Williams is also a talented singer and stage actress. Judd Apatow discovered her from a YouTube video featuring a singing Williams, which led her to be casted for his collaborative effort with Lena Dunham, Girls. Since then, Williams has also written and starred in Funny Or Die sketches (specifically one about Kate Middleton), been featured as a recurring character in CollegeHumor's show Jake and Amir, and starred as Peter Pan in NBC's Peter Pan Live last year. Of course, she is also known for being the daughter of famous news anchorman Brian Williams.

With all this success, Williams has attended an event or two, like award shows and fashion shows as well as fancy benefits and galas. From outfit to outfit, you can tell that Williams has a huge range of looks, from regal princess, to badass ballerina, to androgynous rocker. Here are a few of the looks she's rocked over the years, encapsulating her incredible sartorial range.

Williams wore this gorgeous Giambattista Valli gown to this year's Met Gala for the popular exhibition "China: Through the Looking Glass." The flowing red silk dress with a huge tulle skirt makes Williams look like a graceful princess. The black detailing on the neckline, shoulders, and waist pull the outfit together in seeming inspired by Eastern style.

2. Edgy Nude

Williams looks stunning in this short Calvin Klein dress. The frock exudes edge with its nude leather look, and it hugs her body beautifully. This is hands down one of the coolest outfits I've seen Williams in.

3. Floral

Williams attended last winter's Michael Kors show in a more unexpected look, at least by Allison Williams standards. She rocked a royal blue and yellow two piece floral ensemble, complete with a cute sleeveless crop top and a full skirt.

4. Sleek and Retro

At the 2015 Golden Globes, Williams was the lady in red, and channeled old Hollywood vibes (exemplified also in her sleek and wavy hairdo). The Armani Prive strapless gown was covered in tiers and dazzled with sequins that slowly disperse as your eye moves down the dress.

5. Bedroom Formal

Last year, Williams daringly attended the Museum of the Moving Image Honors Charlie Rose and Richard Plepler event in somewhat of an unconventional dress. Rocking a sexy Dolce & Gabbana white lace gown, the frock's bustier top, fitted skirt, and its head-to-toe lace made it more reminiscent of lingerie than anything else. Hooray for bedroom formal and taking fashion chances!

6. Resort

On the Dior Cruise 2015, Williams was one of many celebrities rocking the brand's vacation and cruise-inspired wear. She rocked a flowy black jumpsuit, complete with a deep V-neck, collar, and a belt at the waist. The look definitely exuded fancy vacation by the seaside vibes, but the loose silhouettes, especially as seen in the wide leg of the romper, totally scream Williams.

7. Peachy Keen

Williams attended the Met Gala 2014 honoring the Charles James exhibit in a gown as classy as the honored designer himself. She looked amazingly regal and polished in a body-hugging Oscar de la Renta peach floor length gown, complete with a fan-like train.

8. Brocade

At the 3rd annual Sean Penn and Friends HELP HAITI HOME Gala, Williams rocked a fitted basic cream frock with a higher neckline than she's used to. The skirt parted in the front and revealed a shorter brocade detailed insert, which matched her gold pumps.

9. Masculine

Posing for W, Williams channeled a very different look than her usual feminine attire. Here, she looks fiercely masculine in Saint Laurent, sporting a white dress shirt, black suspenders, a skinny tie and a blazer to match. She expresses her happiness of being able to finally rock this kind of look for a magazine cover on her Instagram. The look is accented, and made more fierce, by an intense smoky eye, fringed hair, and a bold red lip.

10. Black Swan

At the Met's Winter Ball for Autism Gala in 2013, Williams seemed to channel the punk theme of that year's costume institute exhibition. Williams wowed in her very Black Swan-esque dress, complimented by slicked back hair and a red lip. Her black lacy fitted bodice and full skirt with layers upon layers of black chiffon really channeled the vibes of a ballerina and her tutu. The plunging back line upped the sexy game of this outfit even more. A sexy and dark departure from her preferred looser silhouettes and lighter colors, Williams looks undeniably amazing in this dress.

11. Wedding Day

And finally: the wedding dress! Williams rocked a beautiful Oscar de la Renta strapless white gown with beaded overlay over shoulders and arms. With the dress's floral detailing, her train and veil trailing behind her, and her look of total content walking beside her partner, this dress (and Williams) is truly picturesque.
