A Milk Ad Takes 'Flight' With This Song

by Kristie Rohwedder

Sometimes, a TV spot will make my heart grow three sizes. That new Got Milk? commercial with the kaleidoscope of desserts is one of those ads. The ad features a song from Flight of the Conchords, the short-lived, albeit terrific HBO comedy series about two musicians from New Zealand trying to make it in The Big Apple. (Ugh, I miss it. Sure, I can watch the entire series on HBO GO whenever I want, but that isn’t the same as watching brand new episodes. It doesn't look like Daft Punk, you know?) The song in the Got Milk? ad Is “Foux du Fafa” by Flight of the Conchords, the musical duo of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. The tune appears in eight episode of the HBO series Flight of the Conchords.

At the beginning of the episode, Jermaine and Bret attempt to woo two women who work at a bakery (played by goddesses June Diane Raphael and Eliza Coupe). Jermaine orders a croissant. Bret does not order a croissant. Some French is spoken. And then, the scene takes a very Flight of the Concords turn: a “Foux du Fafa” music video starring Jermaine, Bret, June, and Eliza happens. You can watch the scene here.

Here’s “Foux du Fafa,” you le pamplemousse!

It's dessert, it's dessert tiiiiiiime:
