Mariah Carey Is The Latest MAC Collaborator

by Melodi Erdogan

All I want for Christmas is not you, but the exclusive lip shade Mariah Carey designed for MAC Cosmetics for this upcoming holiday season. Fittingly named "All I Want," the shimmering champagne shade with a frosty sheen will be exclusively sold online come December, and will act as a precursor to Carey's full Beauty Icon Collection with MAC, set to release in 2016, according to a press release. I think it's safe to say we will all be adding this lip shade to our holiday wish list.

Carey has long been known for her stunning makeup looks and iconic high-glamour look, so this MAC collaboration is like a sweet, sweet fantasy come true. It's honestly surprising to me that it took this long for MAC to plug Carey, but seeing as they're releasing a special lipstick shade to introduce her collaboration, it's clear that they truly belong together. There's no doubt MAC and Carey fans will become obsessed with this champagne lip color, and I know that once I get my grubby hands on one, well, it will always be my baby.

OK, I'm done. But seriously, why has it taken this long for MAC and Carey to work on a project together? No matter the answer, I'm thrilled they're teaming up now. An exclusive holiday shade does sound like the perfect way to kick off a Carey-approved collection. After all, if there's one song of hers we all know, it's "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

It makes sense that her first lipstick for the brand will have a frosted finish, since that was always something Carey pulled off in the '90s and early '00s so well. MAC Senior Vice President/Group Creative Director James Gager promises in the press release that it will be the "perfect frosty holiday shade" that captures MC's "elegance, glamour, sophistication, or sense of fun."

Carey herself sang praises of the brand and her excitement for the collab, saying "MAC has been my go-to makeup brand for as long as I can remember," she said, "and I’m so thrilled to be collaborating with them on a lipstick debuting this December, just in time for the holiday season!"

Here's hoping the rest of the collab's offerings will be equally drool-worthy. I'm crossing my fingers that well see lots of frost, shimmer, and sparkle.

But until December, we'll have to be patient. In honor of Carey's MAC collab, and her always outstanding beauty looks, let's look back on some of her best makeup moments. When it comes to beauty, she'll always be a hero to me!

1. Soft

Carey is partial to a soft pink, nude shade. Can you blame her? This lip shade looks absolutely stunning on her.

2. Glam

Glossy shades are a no-brainer for a pop singer. Carey works the look well in a light brown shade that suits her flawless, bronzed skin.

3. Nude

How great does she look with ombre hair? And her smokey eye makeup? And her nude lip? She's a queen!

4. Natural

There's nothing better than a throwback to the '90s. Carey looks particularly beautiful in natural makeup and a cute little sweater. How adorable is she?

5. Bronzed

A good tan and some pink blush can make you feel like a million bucks. Isn't that right, MC?

6. Blonde

Doesn't she look like Kate Moss a little here? It's the hair.

7. '90s

Pile on the blush, hand over the brown lipstick, and get me some black eyeliner — aka, the '90s beauty starter kit.

8. Glowing

I think I'd be glowing too if I won that many awards in one night.

9. Curly Hair

Tight curls look amazing on Carey, and they've always been one of her go-to looks.
