Did Justin Bieber Just Reveal His New Album Name?

by Emily Lackey

According to the dictionary app on my computer, the definition of the word “purpose” reads, “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.” For millions of Beliebers, however, that word is about to take on a whole new meaning. On Friday afternoon, Justin Bieber tweeted a picture of the word “Purpose” with the hashtag “six weeks.” And since that tweet was sent out six weeks before his the new Bieber album is scheduled to drop on November 13, pretty much everyone freaked out instantly and started guessing what the word could mean. Did you hear me, Bieber? We all need to know... what do you mean?

My guess? It’s the title of his new album. Because if it is, it is one of the best album titles I have heard in awhile. Taking into consideration the definition of the word and the way Bieber has been working hard to revamp his image and his music, this potential title seems to be saying a lot about where he is in his life, his career, and his musical style.

Just look at that word now with all of this in mind. It really gives some weight to his next endeavor, doesn't it? His music, the the potential title seems to be saying, is his reason for existing. Now if that isn’t a deeper more significant message than any we have ever received from Bieber before, I don’t know what is.

Beiber, who is known for pop music, croon-worthy lyrics, and his hoard of female followers, has been trying to come back recently from some questionable personal decisions and a whole slew of bad publicity. Lately, the star has been trying to shrug off the negativity and get back to matters: The music. And if Purpose ends up being the name of his new album, it speaks to just how serious Bieber is about making work that matters. The title suggests that the music is all that is important, which means we can most likely count on a phenomenal product once the album is released. His newest music will most likely be better than ever (hello, "What Do You Mean?"), so look forward to meaningful lyrics, more heartfelt beats, and some very purposefully chosen music. (Sorry. I can’t help myself.)

The tweet has fans everywhere losing their minds, and I can’t say that I blame them. All of this build up is making me even more excited for the release of Bieber’s new album. There’s nothing that I like more than a comeback.
