Blake Lively's Short Suit Is Essential For Fall

by Sienna Fantozzi

Confession: I'm a little obsessed with menswear. I love infusing my femininity with a bit of masculine edge, so when I saw Blake Lively wear a short suit during her first appearance after Preserve's closure, I nearly shrieked with joy. According to US Weekly, the 28 year old attended an event in Connecticut this week, and her outfit is giving off major Serena van der Woodsen meets "le smoking" vibes. And I want to copy it, STAT.

After shutting down her lifestyle site last week, Lively attended a screening of the documentary A Path Appears and basically showed everyone nothing is going to get her down by looking completely radiant, as per usual. Though she usually oozes feminity, the Gossip Girl star took inspiration from menswear for this event, rocking a black short suit from SemSem with a white button down. Though it sounds basic, it was anything but. The satin material made it feel luxe, and hand-sewn crystal beading on the sleeves and shorts hem added Lively's classic glitz and glamour.

The blonde actress paired her short suit with opaque tights and black booties, and kept the whole look feeling undone by wearing her hair in her signature beachy waves. It was powerful, classic, and sexy all at once. I'm thinking it's an essential outfit for fall.

I almost like this better than some of the gorgeous dresses she's worn recently.
