It feels like it's been ages since the Pretty Little Liars Season 6A finale, doesn't it? In reality, it's only been about two months, but having to go week to week without new episodes feels like an eternity. Thankfully, we at least know that we've got Season 6B coming our way soon (January 2016, to be specific), and that's something to look forward to — as well as a five year time jump when we meet up with the girls again. If that's not enough to get excited about (and let's be honest, it totally is), PLL is getting brand new opening credits for the first time in the show's history. It makes sense given the flash-forward, and once you watch them, I think you'll agree on just how epic they are.
The opening does still feature the same theme song — "Secrets" by The Pierces — as well as all four of our Liars, albeit all grown-up versions of them. There's also a fifth girl on hand, Allison, who's part of the line-up this time around, as well as our usual dash of primping and prepping and shushing. The big difference is that Shay Mitchell gets to do the honors this time instead of Lucy Hale. It's 20 delicious seconds long, but it doesn't give too much away when it comes to what we can expect following the reveal of "Big A".
The biggest difference between the new opening sequence and old is just the girls' more mature look. They're older now, all grown up, and even more skeptical as they were back in Season 1. Allison's addition only makes this more obvious, but the coffins are still lined in front of them, so something tells me there are still plenty of mysteries to be unfolded when the series returns this winter.
Asked what fans can expect in the second half of Season 6, executive producer Marlene King told E Online, "I don't want to give you all the answers because that's part of the fun of the story when we find them. They're still friends, but like what happens after you get out of college, you don't get to see your friends all the time. So there's a reason they have to come back to town and they're bringing some secrets back with them, too."
I don't know about you, but I'm excited!
