Destination weddings are a huge element of the wedding market, and while not all of these affairs happen on coastlines, tons of them do. Plus, the United States has sizable oceanic borders and more and more people are opting for casual beach ceremonies. As a result, what to wear to a wedding on the beach is probably a question you've asked yourself and your friends. While you can rock your highest heels at an indoor big day, they're definitely not going to help you wade through the sand at a beach ceremony. You'll definitely have to make some tweaks to your wardrobe for a coastal wedding, but hey, what's wrong with an excuse to go shopping?
The average cost of attending a wedding has risen in the past few years. The cost has now hit a whopping $673. The cost includes things like travel and a wedding gift, and now, I'm about to recommend that it include wardrobe items — sorry about that. That being said though, there's a good chance that your wardrobe may already contain some of the suggestions. Beach weddings may appear easy, but they bring a wide array of challenges not only for the bride and groom's planning but also for their guests' wardrobe. Thankfully, I'm going to give you a few of suggestions you may already have, and if not, some you can purchase without breaking that $673 average cost.
Women's Evelyn Thong Quarter Strap Sandal, $10.48, Target
I'm sure you're a bit bummed about not being able to rock heels, but just consider trying to walk through sand with them on. Plus, beach weddings typically have a bit of a more casual vibe, so let's go with it.
Ink Positively Dress, $44.99, Modcloth
Maxi dresses are a perfect choice for beach wedding. The flow, they're cool, and they're dressy without being over done.
Printed Cami Dress, $20.00, Old Navy
Florals are perfect for beach weddings, and if you're going to a warmer climate, this dress is ideal.
Midi Skirt In Scuba Fabric, $69.00, ASOS
Honestly, midi skirts are perfect for all occasions. No matter what type of wedding you attend, you can totally rock one.
Hi-Lo Halter Dress, $37.47, New York and Company
There is something about a high-low dress that I find perfect for a beach wedding. Maybe it's the flowing fabric.
Cejon Inkblot Floral Day Wrap, $17.99, Macy's
I promise I'm not trying to make you look older than your years. Something to consider, however, is that if your friends are having a sunset wedding, this could get a little chilly with the beach wind. Consider taking a cover up for your shoulders just in case.
Diane Von Furstenberg Envelope Poppy Leopard Leather Clutch, $119.97, Nordstrom Rack
This gorgeous clutch is definitely a splurge, but it's stunning. Clutches are perfect for weddings. They're compact and carry just what you need to celebrate the night away.
