Twitter Says: Happy Merge Day, Random House & Penguin!

The announcement happened last fall, but today's the wedding day: Random House and Penguin, the two largest publishers in the US, have now officially merged. Say hello to Penguin Random House! Though let's be honest, we were all still holding out hope for Random Penguin. But I guess we can’t have everything in life.

Though the industry has been full of speculation ever since the original announcement, so far the merger doesn’t seem to have caused the collapse of book publishing as we know it. In fact, the Twitterverse seems pretty upbeat about it.

In the early hours of the morning, the new Penguin Random House twitter handle announced the merger...

...and before you knew it, all the various divisions were saying hello to their new counterparts.

Twitter love. Is there any better kind? As for everyone else, mostly we all want to know who was in charge of the new name. Because really:
