How To Make Halloween Makeup Last

Halloween is just a few short days away, and hopefully, you've got your costume all lined up. Whether you and your girls are going for a #squadgoals look or you're seeking something a bit more terrifying, your makeup has to last. So knowing how to make your Halloween makeup last becomes a pressing question for the chilly, autumnal holiday. While a melted wax face is one thing as a costume, no one wants their carefully crafted vampire look to be running down their face by the end of the night.

After an evening of dancing or being in packed bars, it's likely that your makeup is going to suffer a bit. While it may be chillier, moving from bar to bar or going into crowded spaces means that you're bound to break a sweat — unless you're one of those lucky people who just don't sweat. While there are tons of incredibly fun Halloween costumes that don't require makeup, others are cosmetics-heavy and totally sweet looking! Whether you're rocking some liquid latex to get a totally gory zombie look or embracing a prettier but makeup heavy look, the truth is that cosmetics are typically a large portion of what makes a costume great. After all, who doesn't want to have a cool, dramatic costume in conjunction with one that can continues to look incredible throughout the night? So, how do you keep your look on point?

Setting Spray

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, $30.00, Sephora

The name of this setting spray says it all. It's bound to make your makeup look last through some of the roughest of evenings. Setting is incredibly important not only for everyday but also for Halloween.

Pressed Powder

Covergirl Professional Loose Powder, $6.49, Ulta

Another way to set is with powder. If you're going for less gory and more glam look, this is essential. While it may give a more matte appearance to your face, it'll be worth it to prevent slippage through the evening.

Prime Your Face

Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer, $39.00, Sephora

Priming your face is insanely important as it creates the perfect base for your look. This pore minimizing and oil controlling primer will help those with oily skin prevent makeup meltdown.

Practice Ahead Of Time

Makeup looks take practice, but luckily there are tons of great tutorials online. However, you should practice beforehand. If you're continually putting on and taking off makeup in an effort to fix your look the night of Halloween, your makeup won't hold up against your exhausted and product and cleanser laden skin. Practice beforehand to make sure you've got your look down pat.

Use Waterproof Products

Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express, $6.99, Ulta

Waterproof products are a must for Halloween. Whether you've got a rainy forecast or just planning to dance the night away, there's a chance you may run into melting, and waterproof products will help prevent that.
