Ellen DeGeneres' First Oscar Poster Is a Giant Disappointment

It's great that Ellen DeGeneres is hosting the Academy Awards this year. I love it. She's funny, she's adorable, she's smart, she's a way better choice than someone like Seth MacFarlane, and she's definitely not going to be singing a sexist song about women's breasts and call it "comedy." But could the Academy just not come up with any better concept for the first poster advertising Ellen DeGeneres hosting the Oscars than a picture of her just sitting down and holding an Oscar? I mean, it's classy and it looks fine, but it's sort of boring. In fact, it just kind of reminds me of a poster for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, only with DeGeneres wearing a suit and holding an Oscar. There is literally nothing else different about it.

But I suppose it's just best to look at the positive: Ellen DeGeneres is hosting! That means, for the first time since she last hosted the Oscars in 2007, we may actually be in for a funny, great show. After all, the last time she hosted the Oscars she garnered great reviews, not to mention she managed to keep it the show from being cheesy and annoying.

You can check out the poster below. The Oscars will air on March 2, at 7 p.m. ET, on ABC.
