Dearest Sylvester Stallone, Please Be Rambo Again

by Jordana Lipsitz

I have a whole bunch of mixed feelings about reboots. Part of me gives in to the joy that I get to see favorite characters again, years later. But then, the part of me that really loves these characters wakes up and remembers that, sometimes, if you love something you have to let it go. Sometimes, these reboots can have positive results though, which is likely why Hollywood continues to create them — and now, it looks like we're getting another potentially cool one. Thanks to Fox and executive producer Sylvester Stallone, this time around Deadline reports we may see a new Rambo series, Rambo: New Blood , in the near future.

For those of you who somehow managed to avoid all day Rambo specials on TNT, Rambo is a franchise consisting of the films First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III and Rambo, and the series is based on the book First Blood by David Morrell. The films focus on Sylvester Stallone as Rambo, a former Green Beret and Vietnam vet who is great at killing baddies and keeping his abs glistening. So glistening and terrifying all at the same time!

This possible reboot comes conveniently after Creed, the Rocky reboot proved itself to be a box office success. We can't get enough Stallone! That is, if Stallone actually appears in the series... according to Deadline, it is not confirmed whether or not we will have a new Rambo or if the 69-year-old Stallone will take up the role again. Regardless, we will still have a new character to look forward to: The focus of the series is on J.R., Rambo's former Navy SEAL son who has never appeared in a Rambo movie.

And while that sounds great, I have to say — Stallone should absolutely return too.

As long as One and NuImage/Millennium Films (the production team behind the series) manage to make a show that doesn't involve Rambo's son doing anything ridiculous, I can handle this. But, again, it would be a whole lot easier to enjoy if Rambo/Rocky is playing the role of Rambo.

So, are you there Sylvester? It's me Jordana. If you could just confirm involvement in this already, that'd be great. Thanks.
