"Hideaway" Needs To Be 1D's Next Single

by Kadeen Griffiths

Listen, I know I'm probably barking up the wrong tree here. After all, it's not like this is a brand new One Direction song, or some kind of hidden bonus track from their final pre-hiatus album Made In The A.M. However, when the unreleased One Direction song "Hideaway" was brought to my attention, I became a woman obsessed. You think you know a band, and then, all of a sudden, you find out that they've been dropping awesome songs behind your back that are just for fun and will never make it onto an album. And then, if you're like me, that's when you stand up and scream, "NO." Because One Direction needs to release "Hideaway" as a single, and I don't care how old the song is.

The fact of the matter is that One Direction is going on hiatus, and we have no idea how long it's going to turn out to be. Sure, they claim the hiatus is only going to be for two years, but that's what they all say. For all we know, Made In The A.M. could be the final album that One Direction releases together ever. It's only to be expected that their record company will probably put out an album of their greatest hits to tide us over until they release another album, but what about releasing an album of all of their unreleased tracks and demos? I refuse to believe that "Hideaway" is the only one, even if "Hideaway" is the only one that I care about right now. Surely, One Direction has enough songs that didn't make the cut for their previous albums that could be slapped together to make one, whole new one.

Take a moment to dream this dream with me. "Hideaway" could be the opening track, and then they could also, if they were feeling particularly cheeky, they could include the impromptu "Pokemon Song" that the boys did during their X-Factor days. (Greatest Pokemon song of all time or greatest Pokemon song of all time?) All right, I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but thinking of the long, two year stretch we're about to undergo without any new songs from the band is starting to get to me, you guys. I don't handle hiatuses well. They've never gone well for me with bands that I was a fan of.

Besides, "Hideaway" sounds like it could be so good with an official release, and it's not like One Direction has anything else to do with their time right now. So, sure, it's highly unlikely that "Hideaway" will ever see the light of day outside of this YouTube video, but I'm going to keep my fingers and toes crossed that maybe one day it actually does. Because, apparently, there's no such thing as a bad One Direction song — especially if this song comes in the middle of a hiatus that their fans are probably going to sob their way through.
