Daniel Radcliffe's 'HP' Audition Is So Adorable

It's hard to believe that there was ever a time when the world didn't associate Daniel Radcliffe with Harry Potter. But, nearly 16 years ago now, that was the case. When Warner Brothers was looking to cast the boy who lived back in 2000, they stumbled upon a little known child actor who's performance would go on to define the series. But, like any unknown actor, he had to audition for the part, and Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter audition tape is the greatest thing ever. Radcliffe recalled the auditioning experience in an article with the British publication The Times Magazine. In the interview, the actor says that he was recently sent a link to his now life-changing audition and that, unsurprisingly, he hates it. He claims to have watched the video too many times when he was young, "at a stage when you hate your face anyway, and anything it does is repellent to you."

Despite the actor's objections to the footage, it is an incredibly adorable throwback for the rest of us Harry Potter fans. It's a glimpse of what started the franchise — finding its star. Who knows what the movies would've been like without him? The five minute-long video is objectively precious in all regards, but I've taken the liberty of rounding up the cutest moments.

1. The Way He Says "Dragon Egg"

Seriously, it will melt your heart. He puts so much excitement and joy into those two words. Young DanRad had a real sense of wonder.

2. His Little Giggle

They ask him to do another take, and he sort of chuckles and it's the happiest noise. Just replay it a few times. So much cuteness.

3. The Way He Says "Fortune"

It's so British and, consequently, adorable. Can we agree that children with accents are the cutest children? OK, cool.

4. His Gleeful Smile

His smile legitimately seems filled with glee. This is a video of a kid having the absolute time of his life.

5. When He Gets Broody

He delivers a monologue from Prisoner of Azkaban, and he gets so intense. It's a great moment, considering how dramatic the series gets by the end. He had the ability from the start.

6. When He Tries On The Glasses

You can't truly have Harry Potter unless he's bespectacled. The video captures him trying on his character's trademark glasses, and it's the best thing.
