'Human People' Has The Best Cast
If you love watching Abbi's ridiculous life struggles on Broad City, good news: you don't have to wait for Season 3 of the series to see Abbi Jacobson stir up trouble — and hopefully big laughs — in the Big Apple. As reported by Variety, Jacobson will star in Human People , a film that features a group of New Yorkers navigating their relationships and life's random problems over the course of a singular day. It's the other "human people" that are surprising this time around: according to Variety, Jacobson will appear alongside Michael Cera and Tavi Gevinson in the new film. It's certainly a random cast, but given these stars' track records, I have faith that it could work in completely surprising way.
It's no secret that these three actors are from wildly different walks of life. Jacobson cut her teeth in the web-series version of Broad City, while Cera made a name for himself as a painfully awkward George Michael on Arrested Development and, later, teen comedies like Superbad and Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. Gevinson has perhaps had the most unique career out of the three: before Gevinson was an actress, she was an 11-year-old blogger cultivating a successful blog called Style Rookie and sitting pretty at New York Fashion Week. So, you know... NBD.
Gevinson has since appeared on shows like Parenthood, and most recently appeared on an episode of Fox's Scream Queens. She has also appeared on Broadway alongside Cera for a production of This Is Our Youth, which may be how these two teamed up in the first place for Human People. They certainly look like buddies:
Production is currently underway in New York, which means we may see this film in theaters relatively soon. I'm curious to see how this cast blends together, but given their immense talents as individuals, I can only imagine it will be worthwhile blend.
