Not a day goes by that I don’t wonder where, oh where, are all the hot people? Well, according to a new study, the most attractive singles live in San Francisco. Looks like it could be time to move west and not turn back.
Dating site, Elite Singles polled 80,000 Americans, all of whom who rated their fellow U.S. singles in attractiveness on a scale of one to seven, and San Francisco came out on top. But here’s the kicker: It’s San Francisco’s singles who think they’re the most attractive of all the other cities out there, too. Confidence is a good thing, no?
The study didn’t just find that San Francisco is attractive, but it also narrowed down the top 10 cities for the sexiest singles. And, because SF is the star of the show here, the top 10 neighborhoods in San Francisco for the sexiest singles, too.
Much to my surprise, Manhattan didn’t make the top 10 (NYC has so many sexy singles!), but New York’s other favorite borough did, so that’s something. And if your city didn't make the list, don't sweat it, you've still got it going on.
10. Tampa
According to Elite Singles’ study, Tampa starts off our top 10 list in tenth place. It’s warm there, so that’s nice. They also have a Busch Gardens which, I suppose, would make for a lovely first date.
9. Seattle
All the way on the other side of country in ninth place is Seattle. Seattle and Tampa couldn’t possibly be more different even if they tried, and I’m guessing they don’t want to try. Seattle is known for their coffee, their rain, and being far more laid back than us Northeastern kids, all of which leads to me believe that you can have a romantic cup of coffee on a rainy day with someone who isn’t pressed for time and can actually get to know you.
8. Orlando
Although Orlando makes me think of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, according to the study, Orlando has some pretty good looking singles, too. I imagine most of them even work at the Magic Kingdom or Epcot, which obviously means discounts on day passes! That is, if you want to lock yourself into a day-long date.
7. Dallas
Coming in at seventh place on the list of sexiest singles is Dallas. According to a 2008 article in D Magazine, Dallas is the “millionaire capital of the country.” Not to sound like a gold digger or anything, but need I say more?
6. Chicago
Oh, Chicago! Personally, I have never been to Chicago, but my friends who are from Chicago and who live there now, both single and coupled up, are quite the attractive group. It’s also a very cosmopolitan city which has more than enough date spots to choose from, no matter what tickles your fancy.
5. Brooklyn
See? I told you New York City was represented in some way on the list! Starting off our top five sexiest cities in the U.S. is Brooklyn. Whether you choose a dive bar in Bushwick, a stroll through Prospect Park, or want to find yourself some hot bearded trust fund “artiste” in Williamsburg, there is no shortage of super hot men and women over there.
4. Charlotte
Unless there’s another prominent Charlotte in the U.S., I’m going to assume this Charlotte is the one in North Carolina. Nicknamed "the International Gateway to the South," this is the place to be if you’re looking to score a single who works in economics and finance and all that stuff.
3. Boston
According to my father, who was born and raised in the Boston area mind you, the city is home to not just the most attractive people in the States but in the world, too. While Boston's weather leaves much to be desired, it does come in at third place, so I guess my father is on to something in his assessment.
2. Atlanta
While there may not be many Southern cities on the list, Atlanta does come in at second place. I have never been to Atlanta, but I’m thinking I should probably go just to see how pretty these people are, and I’ll report back.
1. San Francisco
And of course… San Francisco is #1 on the list of the top 10 sexiest cities. But you already knew that because I gave it away. However, because I didn't want to spoil everything, what I didn’t give away are the top five sexiest neighborhoods in San Francisco — they are as follows: Treasure Island, South Park, Fillmore, Parnassus, and Forest Hill, respectively.
Now you have an idea of where we should travel to in 2016, if you're looking to surround yourself with sexy singles. It’s always nice to have big plans for the new year.
