Vanessa Hudgens Launches Her Own Lifestyle Website

It seems like every celebrity and her mother has a website these days. From Gwenyth Paltrow's Goop to Blake Lively's (now defunct) Preserve, celebrities with excess cash and staff to help run their websites are totally jumping into the game. A certain High School Musical star is getting in on the trend, too. According to E!, Vanessa Hudgens launched Astra & Opal, a new lifestyle website.

So what exactly does Astral & Opal mean? The dictionary definition of "astral" is "of, connected with, or resembling the stars." And as you probably know, opals are gemstones that are generally associated with inspiration, imagination, and creativity. It's all a little New Age-y for me, but I like the meaning behind the name, and the typeface Hudgens chose is totally adorable. The site itself is designed well, and Hudgens (who serves as editor-in-chief of the site) explained its mission in an editor's letter.

"I love surfing the web but nothing ever stuck with me," she writes. "So, I thought it was time to create the site I needed in my life."

She also writes that she wants the site to bring readers inspiration, passion, wisdom" and makes their worlds "a little more colorful."

The site is pretty cute, no?

The articles posted for its launch are a mix of food, beauty and lifestyle topics. From a DIY green tea face mask to "10 Beautiful Crystal Inspired Necklaces" to "How To Practice Mindfulness In Your Daily Life," you can get a sense of what the Grease star is into. From her writing, you know she's super interested in mindfulness and meditation, two topics I hope she writes more about in the future. In a world of ever-increasing online content, I think this would definitely give her an edge and the ability to differentiate herself from other celebrity lifestyle websites.

One of the first articles that caught my eye was actually something a little more New Age — something you wouldn't necessarily see on another site. It was titled, "What Are Your Spiritual Powers According To Your Birth Date?" I was instantly drawn in, and I had to stick around to figure out that my dominant spiritual powers are faith and strength. You learn something new every day, right?

I love that Hudgens is trying something new, and I, for one, hope she pushes the envelope and creates something really great.
