How To Do NYE Like 'The Fresh Prince'

New Year's Eve is never what you want it to be. Events at restaurants and bars are too crowded and expensive, parties at friends' houses can turn out to be much smaller than you had hoped for (with a much more limited pool of eligible singles), and staying home alone in pajamas and watching the ball drop is frowned upon for some reason. No matter how bootylicious your tushie looks in that dress you bought for the occasion, and no matter how on fleek your DIY manicure is, chances are you will just wake up the next morning with an insane hangover and a wish you had just marathon watched New Year's episodes of your favorite shows. But you know who probably has a great New Year's Eve? The Banks family from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. If only your New Year's Eve could be like The Fresh Prince's.

Will's aunt and uncle really know how to throw down, and, with the personalities mish-mashed together in that family, hijinks are certain to ensue. I would take having girl talk with Ashley Banks over trying to hide my hangover from the baristas at Starbucks any day of the week. Any. Day. So let's imagine, if you will, we could skip the usual NYE festivities and party with the Banks circa 1995... if only in our dreams.

Is there any other way to dance? Nope, not that I am aware of.

2. Try To Prank Geoffrey With Baby Nicky

Oh, Nicky, you little prankster, you. So precious.

3. Chill Poolside With Ashley And Will

In the magical land of Southern California, where the Banks live, it's so warm you can have pool parties all year long.

4. Make A Feast With Hilary

Hilary will probably try to make some foods that are supposed to be good luck for the new year because of something she read in a magazine. She needs you to help her, because, after all, when you have a cook your whole life, you don't really understand ovens.

5. Let Uncle Phil Talk You Down

The holidays can be an emotional time, and sometimes it's nice to have someone to talk to. Uncle Phil can be great for that, when he's not too busy trying to sneak holiday cookies.

6. Learn How To Throw Shade With Aunt Viv

The New Year is a good time to make a resolution to stand up for yourself once and for all. Aunt Viv knows all there is to know about sass. Just listen, padawan, and you too will know the ways of Vivian Banks.

7. Watch Jazz Get Thrown Out... Again

Chances are, Jazzy Jeff is going to piss Uncle Phil off. The consequences of his actions are always funny to watch.

I'm not saying you should bail on any of the New Year's Eve parties you were invited to. What I am saying is that watching the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to ring in the year might be a little more fun. But you do you. No matter what you do, be sure to bring the fun-loving spirit of Will along for the ride.
