Will Taylor Swift Do Any More '1989' Music Videos?
As of yesterday, Taylor Swift has released six music videos from 1989 — "Shake It Off," "Blank Space," "Style," "Bad Blood," "Wildest Dreams," and "Out Of The Woods" — the latter of which, in case you were busy celebrating the arrival of 2016 Thursday night, premiered during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve . The question of whether we'll be getting any more Taylor Swift music videos off 1989 remains to be seen, but ultimately comes down to whether she'll designate any additional songs off the album as singles. If you're asking yourself why in the world Tay would put out another single from an album that dropped over a year ago, the answer comes down to little more than this: She can. The power of Taylor Swift is such that she can do pretty much whatever she pleases. And there's nothing you can do to stop her.
I'm inclined to say we'll be getting another video in 2016 because, firstly, Taylor always tops herself: Both her self-titled debut album and Fearless had five singles, her third album, Speak Now, had six; and her last album, Red, had seven. When it comes to anything and everything, Taylor's always been a "go big or go home" kind of gal.
Secondly, she loves keeping her fans guessing with surprises, so it wouldn't be out of character for her to drop a seventh pick sometime this year. Perhaps most significantly, when all is said and done, all of Taylor's songs are all radio-friendly. Given its phenomenal success thus far, there's no reason why the album couldn't sustain more singles on the charts.
In fact, not only do I predict that Swift will release a seventh single (and, accordingly, grace us with another music video), but given the rate she's going, I think she might even go for an eighth. (I personally hope of them is "I Know Places.")
Or maybe she'll just pull a Beyoncé and make videos for all of them. (A girl can dream, but I think the internet would break all over again.)
