The 'Girls' Cast Skipped The 2016 Golden Globes
She might be the voice of her generation ("or at least a voice of a generation"), but Lena Dunham is also a total style star. Her red carpet ensembles often get mixed reviews, but I have always been a fan of her fun, fearless way of dressing. That's just part of the reason I was bummed that the cast of Girls skipped the 2016 Golden Globes. Dunham herself is out campaigning for Hillary Clinton, whose Instagram she took over on Saturday, but what about everyone else? Where is Jemima Kirke and her incredibly stellar bohemian sensibilities? What about Zosia Mamet, who is pretty much like a walking Kate Spade ad (funnily enough, she recently starred in one)? Or Allison Williams, with her very Marnie-esque, polished sense of style? And we can't forget Adam Driver, who recently starred as Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and cleans up beautifully in a suit.
The 2016 Golden Globes have been super stylin', but I'm still bummed that the cast of one of my favorite TV shows didn't happen to be there. So, what was the cast of Girls up to tonight instead of walking the red carpet with many of Hollywood's best and brightest? They all had pretty good reasons for missing out on that action.
1. Lena Dunham
Her presence might be missed at the Globes, but Dunham has been sporting some insanely cool patriotic ensembles while on the campaign trail for Clinton. Check out that super cool red, white, and blue turtleneck dress.
2. Jemima Kirke
There aren't many clues to Kirke's whereabouts on social media, but she did post this adorable throwback a few days ago. A previous tweet from Jan. 6 reveals that she got her US citizenship, so perhaps she's resting up after working so hard? Her most recent red carpet appearance at the GlamourWomen of the Year Awards will have to be enough to hold fans of her style over until next time.
3. Zosia Mamet
Mamet has been MIA on social media for awhile, so allow this adorable star-printed mini dress to remind you why you totally wish she'd come to the Golden Globes.
4. Allison Williams
Like many of us, Williams is watching the Globes from her couch tonight — and admiring the fierceness of Taraji P. Henson! The last time we saw the Girls actor, she was working a gold sequined dress.
5. Adam Driver
I'm not sure what Driver is up to tonight, but you can bet he's taking a much-needed break from the spotlight!
