Twice is nice. While expecting her second child and first son Saint West last year, Kim Kardashian reportedly used a pregnancy body double. Kardashian's mother Kris Jenner revealed this utterly kray kray news on the latest episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Apparently, the reality star used a stand-in for fashion purposes only. So, who is Kardashian's body double, exactly?
Well, her identity is not that obvious. It was actually obscured on the show, too!
But here's the rub. Kardashian allegedly enlisted the services of a woman with her exact same measurements, made her wear a pregnancy prosthesis, and then had her take photos while wearing an outfit. Then Kardashian would reportedly hang the photos with the outfit so she could see what the ensemble would look like on a pregnant frame without having to try it on.
It's as brilliant as it is ridiculous.
Jenner demonstrated her daughter's extravagance by having a laugh and pulling an outfit with an attached photo of the body double wearing a gray dress and coat.
But the model’s face is blurred. However, I was first left wondering if it's the same Irish actress and former teacher who was hired to be a Kardashian photo body double.
According to The Mirror, Shahira Barry, 24, moved from her native Ireland to L.A. to pursue an acting career. She has appeared in a Subway commercials and has had small roles in Ted 2 and True Detective. She was then recruited by E! to pose for Kardashian test shots so photographers would know what lighting and positions worked best.
Could she have been drafted into a secondary role of subbing for pregnant Kardashian and her ensemble photos? We don’t know, but it's a decent guess. Let's further probe.
Since the lovely Barry was already a stand-in for regular photos, it would make sense for the gig to carry over and continue when it came to maternity fashion shoots. Bustle reached out to Barry for comment but has not yet heard back.
While Barry is pretty active about promoting herself online, her exact measurements were not posted on her bookings site. They were, however, semi-visible on her IMDB site, which states that Berry is 5'6", while Kardashian is 5'3".
So they are not nearly the same height.
Also, Barry's bio claims she was a stand-in for all of the Kardashians and Jenners, not just Kim. So maybe Barry was not the pregnancy double.
The mystery deepens!
Overall, this pregnancy stand-in silliness sounds very Cher's-closet-in-Clueless, right?
UPDATE: Barry responded to our request for comment, confirming that she did not stand in for a pregnant Kim. She said, "I have stood in for Kim and the other Kardashian/Jenner girls in the past but I wasn't the person who tried on the bump. I worked with them on the current E! Promo commercials for Keeping Up With the Kardashians." She also noted that the family "worked extremely hard on set with long hours and I appreciate and admire their work ethic. I found it very inspiring to be onset with them."
