11 Of The Most Absurd Celeb Dating Rumors Ever

by Daniela Cabrera

Being a celebrity known around the world comes with a lot of wonderful perks, like being able to wear the fanciest clothes and traveling to beautiful, exotic locations for work, but, as plenty of celebs have made clear over the years, there are plenty of downsides. Being in the public eye means that almost anyone can have an opinion about you and your private life, and spread "news" without an inkling of truth, which has lead to some pretty absurd celebrity dating rumors. The celebrity world is the perfect environment to nurture bizarre rumors and they have been happening since the beginning of the entertainment business.

When you put a whole mess of attractive, creative, and passionate people together, some of them are bound to fall for each other, right? Sure, but some dating rumors have surpassed any shred of truth or sanity and have crossed right on over to downright bizarre. While some celebrity couples have indeed proven the mantra that "opposites attract" is a valid statement, some celeb rumors sound like they were just picked out of a random bowl to generate headlines, and well, that does sometimes work. Here are some of the most absurd celebrity dating rumors that left everyone scratching their heads.

1. Louis Tomlinson & Harry Styles

There is a sect of One Direction fans who whole heartedly believe that "Larry Stylinson" is alive and very real, and have done everything to prove it, from bizarre Tumblr accounts to weird photo manipulations. Unfortunately for those Larry's, both of the boys have repeatedly denied the rumors.

2. Beyoncé & Barack Obama

In early 2014, a French photographer claimed that Beyoncé and President Obama were having an affair and that The Washington Post was planning to break the story. A spokesperson for the paper later shut that claim down, so if you see Obama looking happy in Beyoncé's presence, it's probably just because he's a fan like everyone else.

3. Khloé Kardashian & Steve Martin

I bet this is the weirdest celeb rumor you've ever heard, eh? After her split from Lamar Odom, Steve Martin jokingly shot down a self-created rumor that he was dating the reality star on Twitter.

4. Kanye West & Riccardo Tisci

Say what? Givenchy's creative director, Riccardo Tisci, is pretty well known to be BFFs with Kim Kardashian and her hubby, Kanye West, but that didn't stop some outlets from reporting that West and Tisci were carrying on a secret affair after the rapper spent many months living in Paris, away from his pregnant wife. Of course, Kardashian and West are still happily married with two adorable little babies.

5. Miley Cyrus & French Montana

Miley Cyrus and rapper French Montana collaborated on her song "FU", so of course they justhad to be dating. Onlookers apparently saw Cyrus flirting with Montana after Z100's Jingle Ball concert back in 2013, and a photo emerged of the two hugging in a hotel lobby. Cyrus commented on the rumors on Twitter, saying, "DONT [sic] hug your friends goodbye unless you wanna be rumored 'dating.'"

6. Lindsay Lohan & Tom Cruise

In October 2014, rumors swirled that Lindsay Lohan bumped into Tom Cruise in London and they started secretly seeing each other. I can't even imagine a worse fit for either of them than each other, and Lohan's reps quickly denied the reports to the Daily Mail.

7. Prince Harry & Emma Watson

I was a little jealous when I first heard of this potential coupling. I think Emma Watson seems like a Queen already, but earlier this year, stories came out that Watson and Prince Harry were "having secret dates." Unfortunately, Watson quickly shot down the rumors, so don't expect a Royal Wedding between these two anytime soon.

8. Justin Bieber & Adriana Lima

Justin Bieber has been connected to many Hollywood women over the past few years since his big split from long-time girlfriend, Selena Gomez, and being rumored to be hooking up with supermodel Adriana Lima was probably his dream come true. While the two have met and been friendly, Lima put him in his place and replied to the rumors on Watch What Happens Live with, “I’m gonna tell you this, anybody below 6-foot-7, you know how I call them? Friends."

9. Pauly D & Chloë Sevigny

For some strange reason, Jersey Shore's bronzed king Pauly D sat next to indie Queen Chloë Sevigny during a Knicks game, and they looked very intrigued in conversation. People naturally assumed they must be dating but Sevigny found humor in the rumor and told Vulture, "That would be the weirdest couple in the world. It would be like the apocalypse. We represent extremes, in opposite directions."

10. Oprah Winfrey & Gayle King

Oprah Winfrey and her BFF Gayle King have dodged rumors of their relationship being more than just friendship, after being buddies for many decades. It seems no one in Hollywood can be close with another human without being in a romantic relationship with them, but Oprah has repeatedly denied these claims. What about Stedman!? Oprah opened up to Barbara Walters in 2011, saying,

I'm not a lesbian. I'm not even kind of a lesbian... And the reason why it irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I'm lying. That's number one. Number two: why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life.

11. Harry Styles & Barack Obama

This rumor is the best based on its sheer ridiculousness. The National Examiner featured a photo of Obama on the cover with the text, "[Obama] had sex with THIS MAN," pointing towards Harry Styles! When asked by Yahoo UK of this rumor, Styles replied, "I've heard some good ones in my time, but that's interesting."

Can you imagine how much weirder Hollywood would be if any of these rumors actually came true? I don't even think we could handle it, so I'm happy that these rumors stayed rumors... for now.
