13 Important Things To Remember About 'Game Of Thrones' Season 3 Before The Season 6 Premiere
I don't need to tell you that Game of Thrones is a beautiful and complicated series. There are a copious amount of people, places, and story lines to keep track of, not to mention the various Game of Thrones theories that surround all these people. To be honest, it can be downright impossible to keep everything in your noggin without getting all sorts of confused. There's people dying and undying (please don't be dead Jon Snow, please please please) and traveling all over the Seven Kingdoms, after all — it's a lot to process.
With Season 6 coming up (April 24th GoT premiere guys!!!!) just around the river bend, it's essential to be in the know on everything that's going down in the GoT universe. And let's be real, even the Wikipedia page summaries every dense and difficult to get through. So, because I love you all, — and I know you're going to need a refresher — here's a short summary of items that went down in Season 3 of Game of Thrones which are important to the goings on in Season 6. A list is a much better way to remember what's happening with all your favorites and unfavorites (I'm looking at you Joffrey) than any synopses. Your brain will thank me, I promise.
So let's begin, shall we?
1. Jaime And Brienne Of Tarth Are Besties
After Catelyn Stark let Jaime go in Season 2, he decided to head back home with the assist of Brienne of Tarth. When they get captured by Ramsay Bolton, Jaime saves Brienne's life and shares a lot of secrets — it's pretty much a sleepover. I ship their friendship so hard.
2. Tyrion and Tywin Aren't Getting Along
After Tyrion gets his Hand of the Kingship taken away, he and Tywin don't seem to be getting along. Probably because Tywin is horrible and Tyrion is awesome.
3. Sansa Is Forced To Get Hitched
To Tyrion... who tells her they won't consumate the marriage until she's ready, which is the right thing to do.
4. Sansa Makes Alliances
Sansa needs friends after her entirely family was killed, or was no longer present and accounted for. The Tyrells fill the void with Joffrey gossip and encouragement. Petyr Baelish acts like he's trying to be helpful, but we know he's up to no good.
5. There's A Wedding That Gets A Little... Bloody
Does the Red Wedding ring a bell for any of you? After Robb Stark breaks his alliance with Walder Frey by marrying a woman he loves, Talisa, instead of Frey's daughter, Frey joins up with the Lannisters and slaughters the whole fam. Goodbye Robb, Catelyn, Talisa, unborn Stark baby, and Stark bannerman. Bummer.
6. Arya's Chilling With The Hound
In an attempt to go home, Arya gets captured by the Brotherhood without Banners. She then gets kidnapped by the Hound who takes her to ransom her to her brother. Unfortunately, they show up just in time for Arya to watch her family die. Later, they kill some of the poeple who did it. Arya stabs someone for the first time "with the pointy end" — her first kill.
7. Roose Bolton Is Running The North
Just what the North needs with White Walkers at the door, a psychopath leader.
8. Everyone Thinks Bran And Rickon Are Dead
Theon Greyjoy did a great job of faking their death — but actually they're heading up north with Jojen and Meera Reed.
9. Meanwhile, Theon Is Being Tortured
Theon got captured by Ramsay Snow and is getting brutally tortured. His sister, Yara, is trying to rescue him.
10. Jon Snow Loses His V Card
After being captured by Mance Ryder, Jon Snow joined up with the Wilding army in a move that greatly tested his loyalty to the Night's Watch. He falls in love with Ygritte, a wilding woman — and they made sweet, sweet love in a cave. It didn't last long, though — he is loyal to the Watch to the end.
11. Stannis Baratheon Is Too Into Melisandre
Stannis Baratheon is all bummed out from losing to the Lannisters at the Battle of the Blackwater, so he is putting all his hopes on the witch. His advisor, Davos, tries to kill her and is put in prison.
12. Daenerys Is Kicking Butt As Usual
Daenerys begins to gather an entourage of Missandei (a translator), Daario (a mercenary), Ser Barristan Selmy (a guy who saved her from assassination), and Grey Worm (a former Unsullied). She also amasses an army of Unsullied (warriors) by selling one of her dragons in Astapor. Oh, and the people of Junkai instantly bow to her call her mother.
13. Melisandre Steals Some Blood
Gendry is just a nice normal boy who may or may not be Robert Baratheon's son. So of course, Melisandre — with her lust for royal blood — has to snag some of it. She's a creepy lady.
There you have it a summary of what went down with your favs in Season 3. Hopefully, reading it will help going into Season 6 — and the rest of the show.
