Why Kate Hudson Cut Her Hair Short

by Sienna Fantozzi

While there are some stars who we will probably never see cut off their famously long locks, others aren't too concerned about parting with their hair. Kate Hudson talked about her seven-inch hair chop, according to People Magazine, and even though she lost a whole lot of length, she really couldn't have cared less about it. Seriously, she's the coolest.

The actor chose the 2016 Golden Globe Awards to debut a fresh new lob, and now she's talking about her decision to chop it all off. The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star was on Live! with Kelly and Michael on Tuesday, and told the hosts that she wasn't afraid at all to make the big change. "I cut my hair! I was ready to cut my hair off. Why not? It’ll grow back," Hudson said. Her confidence is both so inspiring and refreshing. It's just hair, right?

Hudson had actually only planned to get a trim before the Golden Globes, but she and her stylist, David Babii, decided just to go all the way with it. That's pretty brave the night before a major event, but it totally paid off, because she looks ah-mazing with the shorter cut.

The new style just brings a little more modern edge to her overall look. I'm totally digging it.

Hudson definitely isn't alone in her nonchalant attitude towards her hair. Check out these seven other celebrities who weren't afraid to chop it (sometimes, all of it), off.

Emma Watson may have gotten the most famous pixie cut thus far, and even though we all loved it, she admitted to Glamour that guys kind of hated it — and she couldn't have cared less. "I've never felt so confident as I did with short hair — I felt really good in my own skin," she said.

2. Jennifer Lawrence

As if you needed another reason to love her, J. Law also is totally cool when it comes to parting with her hair. When asked why she cut her lob into pixie in 2013, she replied, "It grew to that awkward gross length and I kept putting it into a bun, so I just cut it off. It couldn't have gotten any uglier!" L-o-v-e her.

3. Kylie Jenner

Kylie's always changing her hair — both cut and color, and she finally shared on her blog why. "I've just had this addiction to changing my hair. It makes me feel like a new person. I love feeling different and I love leaving the house knowing that nobody has ever seen me this way," she said.

4. Natalie Portman

Forget a chop, Portman went all the way with it, shaving her head for her role in V for Vendetta.

5. Anne Hathaway

Hathaway also cut her hair for a film when she starred in Les Miserables, and not only was she not afraid to cut it off, but she also revealed that she actually liked it on herself. "I'm just so pleased with how I look, so I now quite like having short hair," she said.

6. Kate Mara

Mara took her long locks to a short pixie last year, admitting that it's so much easier to take care of. “I don’t have to wash it now. I don’t have to brush it. I love it,” she said.

7. Shailene Woodley

Woodley cut off her long hair to completely dedicate herself to her role in Insurgent . Talk about commitment.
