Susan Sarandon Did The Best Photobomb

by Loretta Donelan

Susan Sarandon made a splash in many ways at this year's SAG awards, and her photobomb of the Straight Outta Compton cast is further evidence that 2016 is gonna be Susan Sarandon's year. The actor, most famous for older films like The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Thelma and Louise, has proven herself again and again to be modern, progressive, and playfully adaptive to modern trends. Just look at how she's mastered the photobomb, putting herself in prime placement, getting the timing right, and making a perfectly excited/goofy face, next to the cast of one of 2015's hottest movies.

It's clear that 2016 is going to be a huge year for Sarandon. Although she's appeared in many roles every year in the past few decades, both in comedies and dramas, it's these coming months that are bound to bring some big events for her. So far in 2016, Sarandon has made plenty of headlines, and unlike those for some other outspoken actors, they've been glowing, rather than critical. Like always, she's been hilarious, politically engaged, and generally charming, and if she continues on her winning streak, not to mention take on the many exciting projects she seemingly has coming up this year, I think she might just kill it in 2016.

In addition to the hilarious photobomb that she somehow managed with the cast of Straight Outta Compton at the SAGs, here is the proof that 2016 is going to be a great year for Sarandon.

She's L'Oreal's Beauty Ambassador

The actress was named one of L'Oreal's beauty ambassadors in early January, joining a very prestigious list that includes Julianne Moore, Jane Fonda, and Naomi Watts. They've been emphasizing natural beauty in her campaign images, something always great to see.

She's Politically Involved

Sarandon is an active supporter of Bernie Sanders, and she's been campaigning for him in Iowa. I imagine that 2016 will be a busy year for the always political actor.

She's Helped Others

Sarandon has publicized her recent trip to Greece, in which she helped and spoke with Syrian refugees. She's since spoken out on The View, accusing Americans of xenophobia in their attitudes toward refugees.

She's Defied Ageist Beauty Standards

Sarandon received some backlash for wearing this cleavage-baring pantsuit and bra look at age 69 to Saturday's SAG awards. But those complaints are ridiculous and ageist and trivial; her outfit was a totally body positive, stunning look.

She's Spoken Out (Intelligently)

Unlike some actors (ahem, Charlotte Rampling, Julie Delpy...), who have recently decided to get political, Sarandon has continued her legacy of speaking with intelligence and compassion on important issues in 2016.

She's Got Exciting Projects In The Works

Sarandon has a lot of exciting roles coming up in 2016, but one that seems the most like "her" is an executive producing credit in an upcoming documentary about actor and inventor Hedy Lamarr.

A year with more Sarandon is always a good thing, and it seems like she will personally, politically, and professionally have plenty to occupy her time. Hopefully, she'll enjoy the live version of Rocky Horror that's coming up, as well.
