Everyone's Going Nuts Over This Hair Tutorial

by Melanie Richtman

You've probably seen your favorite celebs rocking a high ponytail on the red carpet. Chrissy Teigen, Gigi Hadid, and basically all of the Kardashians are just a few of the names who have been wearing this high pony out and about. However, the new name for it was coined by Jen Atkin, who is arguably the most famous hairstylist of the moment (thanks to her official position with the Kardashians). She's calling the high ponytail the "ditzy ponytail" and everyone's weirdly obsessed with it.

Although I don't agree with the name, the hairstyle is super cute. Basically, to achieve the "ditzy ponytail," you put your hair up in a high ponytail (like I've been doing for years, ever since I had the motor skills to successfully put a hair tie around my hair more than once), tug and pull, and voila. Jen Atkin even put out a tutorial for the hairdo that goes along with her new hair product line, Ouai, and it's kind of the best thing ever, assuming you have a sense of humor that rivals mine.

If you're not a high ponytail connoisseur, allow me to break down the steps for you. Step 1: Put your hair in a high pony. This is really the only step needed, but since this is to promote the Ouai line, they added a second step, which is to spray your hair with dry shampoo.

Pretty self explanatory, right?

Here are a few other hairstyles you can do once you've mastered the high pony...

The Wrapped High Pony

Not exactly the newest hairstyle either, but it adds a touch of elegance to the high pony.

The Fishtail High Pony

Step 1: "Ditzy" pony. Step 2: Learn how to fishtail.

Easy Messy High Bun

I think Jen Atkin would call this the "ditzy" bun.
