An 'O.C.' Reunion Is Finally Happening

by Emily Lackey

Is it getting hot in here, or is it just the cast of The O.C. coming to Texas for the best high school reunion ever? It was announced on Friday that a The O.C. reunion of sorts would be happening at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, TX. Unfortunately, the gang's not yet all here: The only people to confirm their appearances so far are creator Josh Schwartz, writer Leila Gerstein, and writer and executive producer Stephanie Savage. But, will any of the cast members make an appearance and make all of our high school dreams come true?

Texaaaaaaas, here we coooooooome, because I think it's safe to say that a bigger turnout is definitely possible for this reunion. Even though it’s just the three panelists announced so far, the festival is teasing my California-loving hearts with this one detail: the fact that additional panelists will be announced soon. Soon?! Soon is not now, which means soon is definitely not soon enough.

So I guess we’ll just have to wait to know for sure who will be appearing on the panel with fellow O.C. creators, producers, and writers. But I think there’s a good chance that some of the original cast members will make an appearance. After all, this is the same festival where the Friday Night Lights cast is reuniting to throw a high school pep rally of a reunion. Yeah, they’re not putting together some small stage event. Their cast is reuniting for cast appearances, tailgating, and a special episode screening.

Do you really think the cast of The O.C. will not stand up to a showing like that? Not to mention, the panel is set to include a script reading of the pilot episode. Kind of like they did last year at ATX with the pilot episode of Dawson’s Creek read by a number of famous actors. I’m guessing one or two cast members will have to show up for that, right? RIGHT?

Regardless of who makes an appearance, I can’t wait to hear the already announced panelists spill all the behind-the-scenes secrets from The O.C. I hope, in the process, we hear all about the backstage romances and the real reason why they called it quits after only four seasons.
