Will One Direction Be At The 2016 Grammys?

Here's a weird, fun fact: despite having its first four albums all debut at number one on the Billboard 200 charts, One Direction has never been nominated for a Grammy. I know, I know. Madness! But, even though the band has been snubbed countless times, the jury's still out as to whether or not One Direction will be attending the 2016 Grammys. I think it's fair to say that no one's really expecting them to show up, given the fact that their still on this "hiatus" (*sigh*), haven't confirmed showing up, and aren't set to perform. I don't think any of their fans would hold it over their heads if they chose to sit this one out anyway.

But, despite all that, the band should still totally show up. There'd be no better way than to assure fans they will in fact return from this ominous break. And if Zayn Malik makes an appearance, there'd be no better way than to be there to support their ex-fellow band member. (Sidebar: how epic would it be to get a photo of the now solo artist and the band together? After Malik's impressive solo debut, "Pillowtalk" did so well, I think it's fair to say that the world's opening up to the idea of a Zayn-less One Direction, so it would be nice to see them embrace that all together as well. All in favor say "aye!")

We could sit here and lament the fact that One Direction has continuously been snubbed by the Grammys, and therefore doesn't really need to attend the show, but that wouldn't do much good. In fact, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing if 1D didn't roll up this time around. Maybe they really just do need a break from all the madness, and if they're given that, they can return to their fans better than ever. Food for thought.

So, let's recap this. The band has not been nominated for any awards this year, they're not set to perform, and they are technically still on their self imposed hiatus. I think all signs point to One Direction probably not making an appearance at the Grammy's this year. Still, at the same time, we don't know what will happen between now and February 15. Will Harry Styles leave the group, drop a sexy R&B single, and then proceed to date a Hadid? Crazier things have happened. Only time will tell.
