A History Of Tina Fey & Amy Poehler On The Red Carpet — PHOTOS
Every awards season, comedians extraordinaire Tina Fey and Amy Poehler show us life, friendship, and red carpet goals, and every awards season I wish I could emulate some facet of their dynamic friendship. Or maybe even just look like them. Or just look at them. You get the idea. Only time will tell whether they will hit the 2016 Oscars red carpet, but boy do I hope to see them at the biggest awards show of the season!
Whenever they make an appearance at an event, whether together or apart, these two gorgeous feminists make me, and many others, admire them from afar. When they hosted the Golden Globe Awards from 2013 to 2015, their own personal style played off one another harmoniously; when Poehler wore red, Fey wore blue, and vice versa. Like fire and ice, both women wear red carpet ensembles very well, and know just when to add a bit of sparkle to their outfits while still keeping things clean and professional looking. The focus is always on their personalities — they wear the dresses, not the other way around.
Like true Weekend Update professionals, these two tend to stick to solid colors. They have gotten more experimental over the past few years i.e. their Sisters premiere red carpet attire, but they have always been classy and cool looking. Here's a brief history of the best best friends' red carpet appearances, in hopes that we'll see them at the Oscars on Feb. 28.
1. At The Baby Mama Premiere In 2008
Looking like actual babies (fittingly) at the Baby Mama premiere. I love Poehler's adorable haircut!
2. At The Emmys In 2008
Super tan and pregnant Amy Poehler appeared in a flowy, floral print gown, while Fey rocked a sweetheart cut black mermaid dress.
3. At The SAG Awards In 2011
At the 2011 SAG awards, Poehler went business chic with classic nude heels and a black shift, while Fey slayed in a lacy red hot dress with a train.
4. At The Golden Globes After Party In 2013
Fey has increasingly developed a flair for the dramatic, as evidenced by this dark mulberry strapless dress with a humungous puffy train. Poehler shined in a beaded, three-quarter sleeved, column dress.
5. At The Golden Globes In 2013
At the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, Fey once again turned to her classic strapless dress move and Poehler killed in a shirtless, braless blazer look, an amazing diamond drop necklace, and spiked high heels. Talk about a power play and totally a look before its Award show time!
6. At The Golden Globes In 2013
For the second looks of the night, the women opted for red and blue, but in darker shades and with lots of Old Hollywood charm. Fey's peacock blue sequined halter dress complimented Poehler's plunging red three-quarter sleeved dress.
7. At The Emmys In 2013
Wow this was a good year for the two comedic besties! Fey went for a lighter shade of cerulean that is still awesome in a killer cut, while Poehler opted for a darker, sheer paneled, high-necked cut-out dress. Sexy!
8. At The Golden Globes In 2014
At the 2014 Golden Globes, Fey chose a large floral gown while Poehler wore a cooly constructed one-shouldered cut-out number with a leather band. Perhaps this was the inspiration for the Sisters wardrobe?
9. At The Golden Globes In 2014
Later on in the evening, Fey and Poehler made the shift to some classic column dresses before paying homage to their 2013 host dresses...
10. At The Golden Globes In 2014
They switched colors! Totally ingenious! These are my favorite looks on both of them thus far.
11. At The Golden Globes In 2014
Not my favorite look on either of them, but they're still stunning! I'm glad they mixed things up and went outside their respective comfort zones.
12. At The Golden Globes In 2015
Both stars got a little more edgy for this Golden Globes appearance. Poehler killed in the purple.
13. At The Sisters Premiere In 2015
The 2015 Sisters premiere gave way to femme fatale versions of Fey and Poehler. Hopefully, there will be more crazy looks to come! But, they could each be wearing a paper Trader Joe's bag and I'd still think they were amazing.
