Emma's Cute Story About Evan Hides a Big Problem
American Horror Story: Coven star Emma Roberts, 22, went on Chelsea Lately this week to talk about her new movie Adult World and her relationship with fellow American Horror Story star Evan Peters, 27. According to Emma Roberts, the relationship between her and her now fiancee did not get off to a great start. Though the two were very much in love by the time this season of AHS began filming, the two actually met on the set of the indie Adult World — where, as Roberts tells Chelsea Handler, Peters thought she was "so weird."
Unlike her aggressive and sexy starlet character Madison on American Horror Story: Coven, Roberts was way more awkward when it came to flirting with Evan Peters in real life. She tells Chelsea Handler:
I actually, on the set, was like, "Oh yeah, we're totally gonna date." And I would try to like flirt with him, which ended up looking like I had something in my eye because I'd be like, "Hey, what's up?" And he literally didn't speak to me the entire movie.
Eyelash-batting is only adorable when Zooey Deschanel does it, and even then it gets pretty weird, pretty fast.
This is a pretty great — and really relatable — romantic story, but I have to say that I still think there's something weird about the way we accept Peters and Roberts' relationship. In case anyone forgot, Roberts and Peters got into a pretty bad domestic dispute earlier last year, which ended in Roberts punching Peters in the face. Yes, she punched him in the face. Bite marks were found on Peters while Roberts was said to have bruises on her legs.
It's unclear as to whether this incident was a huge misunderstanding blown out of proportion — as the couple claims — or something worse, but it's a little odd that we as a society are suddenly celebrating the romance between these two young co-stars while condemning any interactions Rihanna and Chris Brown ever have.
I hope that Evan Peters and Emma Roberts have worked out their issues. If they are happy, that's awesome, and I'm glad that they were able to make it through their rough patch. But, just days after watching them brawl on-screen in the American Horror Story: Coven finale, did anyone else cringe a bit hearing this story?
