Christina Aguilera Is Giving Voice Lessons Now, So It's Time To Channel Your Inner Diva
If you're anything like me, you probably spent much of your youth dreaming about becoming an international singing superstar. Whether you idolized the likes of Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, or Christina Aguilera, those diva dreams were intoxicating. Of course, most of us didn't actually have the talent or the opportunity to bring those dreams into fruition, but that doesn't mean we didn't spend long hours in front of our bedroom mirrors, belting out the hits into a hairbrush. (That wasn't just me, right?) And while you may have come to your senses and given up those dreams of stardom now that you're an adult, there's a glimmer of hope for your inner crooner: Christina Aguilera is giving voice lessons on MasterClass.
If you're unsure what MasterClass is all about, it's basically a website where professionals in a given field teach a multi-video online course that anyone can enroll in. The likes of Kevin Spacey and Serena Williams have done one before, and Aguilera is the latest celebrity on the roster. Her instructional singing program "teaches you how to expand your range, find your voice, and master the techniques that have earned her 6 Grammy Awards," according to the website. Plus, you'll get to learn "warm-up exercises, breath control, vibrato, her signature growls, and hear Christina break down her biggest hits." Uh, sign me up (literally).
There will be more than 20 lessons in Aguilera's series, all easily accessible via the MasterClass website. You can pre-enroll for $90, and the course will be available later this spring. One of the cool things about it seems to be that you can do the course in your own time and the videos never expire, so if there's a particular skill you need more work on or want to repeat, you can do it over and over again, to your heart's content. I don't even sing anymore (I did actually sing in talent competitions and stuff as a kid, so I'm not completely delusional), but this just seems like so much fun!
Will taking Christina Aguilera's MasterClass singing course online turn you into a global superstar? It's unlikely. I'm not even sure how many professional singers will take it. In fact, the whole idea seems more like something that will be used by either those of us who know how to carry a tune casually, or more likely, Aguilera's fanbase, who will basically buy into anything she does. Either way, it seems like a lot of fun and will likely be a big success.
