Cate Blanchett's Oscars Look Is Heavenly

by Eliza Florendo

There is one actress who can really do no wrong on the red carpet, which is why everyone I know refers to her as Queen Cate. Tonight, Cate Blanchett at the 2016 Oscars literally took my breath away when she stepped onto the red carpet, wearing a sea foam green gown that gave us major ethereal vibes. If there are angels, they come in the form of Cate Blanchetts at the Oscars. Probably.

If we were to play a word association game, Blanchett is synonymous with elegance, grace, you know, just overall perfection. And that's putting it lightly. On the red carpet, she is never afraid to take risks, and that kind of confidence is what carries (along with her beauty, of course) every single look. Queen Cate has pulled off Schiaparelli, Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Valentino. This list goes on and on.

When she's not on the red carpet, you can find her at press events, and even walking around town in supremely chic ensembles, whether it be a Lanvin cut-out dress, or a Jonathan Simkhai lace dress paired with neutral pumps. The point is, you'll never catch her looking anything less than polished. I feel like she really does wake up like this, in the words of Queen Bey.

Tonight, she topped all of her previous looks with her sea foam Armani gown, embellished with flowers throughout, and styled by Elizabeth Stewart. She definitely didn't miss the texture notes with this dress. With a deep V-neck and some fluffed up shoulders, she looked, well, heavenly.

Plus, with a short train, it gave the dress another element of drama that's super appropriate for Oscar night.

With a deep side part and dangling earrings, she absolutely nailed her entire look. It's really not hard to, if you're Cate Blanchett. And, Tweeters are not shy about their opinions.

But really, though — Cate, are you real? So far, tonight, no other dress has looked like this, which is what makes it so special. It's completely individual, and looks perfectly bespoke for her. I love a gown with some texture, and this Armani number certainly doesn't disappoint. Elegance, it seems, is Blanchett's strongest suit.
