Evangeline Lilly May Make Her Marvel Debut

by Anneliese Cooper

For those who still miss seeing her on their weekly dose of LOST — and who weren't quite sated by her recent turn in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug — get stoked: Evangeline Lilly is in talks to play the female lead in Ant-Man, Marvel's forthcoming superhero flick. Though other big-name actresses have reportedly been up for consideration — including Rashida Jones and Olivia Munn — Lilly appears to be the current frontrunner. And good thing, too: As someone who did her all of own stunts with relish while confined to The Island, our former Kate seems like the perfect choice for an action-packed blockbuster.

Also attached to the project to date are Michael Douglas as scientist Hank Pym, original inventor of the Ant-Man technology, and Paul Rudd in the title role—making him the second major Apatovian to enter herodom, following Seth Rogen's turn as The Green Hornet.

Ideally, Lilly would play the role of Janet van Dyne, AKA Wasp, Ant-Man's crime fighting ladylove. (Because seriously, how cool would she look in this outfit?) However, as van Dyne was Pym's wife in the original series, in order to avoid the May-December flair of a romance with Douglas, she will more likely be cast as some form of love interest for Rudd. Still, let's hope that whatever role she may land in gets to show off some serious moves—if anything, we know Lilly's got 'em.
