This 'PLL' Anagram Theory Will Blow Your Mind
There have been so many mind-blowing moments on Pretty Little Liars that it's hard to rank the craziest reveals. Still, I think it's safe to say that the Season 6B finale featured one of the most jaw-dropping twists ever featured on PLL — and it all has to do with a certain twin. Though Alison was the one with the double in Sara Shepard's book series of the same name, the TV show put its own spin on the twist by revealing that it was Alison's mom Jessica who has a secret twin named Mary Drake — and by revealing that Mary is pissed as hell about being robbed of the life she felt she deserved. Of course, it wouldn't be Pretty Little Liars if the DiLaurentis family secrets stopped there: In addition to being Jessica's identical twin, the Season 6B finale also revealed that Mary is Charlotte's biological mother — and that she gave birth to Charlotte in Radley Sanitarium. Obviously, we should applaud the writers for bringing on the craziest twist yet, but they might get an extra shout out for possibly leaving one major clue that connected Mary to Radley Sanitarium... in the form of an anagram.
In December of 2012, the Tumblr "Pretty Little Hints" posted a major theory suggest that Radley Sanitarium is an anagram for A. DiLaurentis Army. That's true (yay Tumblr sleuths!), but it's not the only anagram possible from Radley Sanitarium. If you rearrange the letters in "A. DiLaurentis Army," you get "Mary A. DiLaurentis." Pretty insane, right?! Leave it to Pretty Little Liars to make word jumbles absolutely fascinating.
Of course, as fans might be asking: how does this matter if Mary's last name isn't DiLaurentis?! As we know, Mary isn't technically a DiLaurentis — as far as we know, that's Kenneth's last name, and not Jessica's maiden name. Mary is "Mary Drake," but that doesn't make this anagram lose all meaning. In fact, it might show a connection between Mary and this other mysterious person: the top person in the Uber A hierarchy.
At the end of the Season 6B finale, the Liars receive a text "thanking" them for giving A-moji Hanna. The text is mysteriously signed A.D., which just so happen to be the same initials as Ali. While it's pretty clear that Uber A isn't actually Alison DiLaurentis (though, man, what an insane twist that would be) it could be a clue that this mysterious A.D. might be a DiLaurentis who teamed up with Mary. The anagram, Mary A. DiLaurentis, might not refer to a name as much as it refers to a team — the people who want to take down the Liars once and for all.
It's taken four years for the anagram to come together, but as they say, there are no coincidences in Rosewood. Here's hoping that the ride to find this mysterious A.D. comes together in a way that is as mind-blowing as the Season 6B finale.
