Your Fave 90s Cartoon Characters... All Grown Up

by Allie Healy

Back in the 90s, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network dominated the airwaves with their infectious and addictive cartoon series. But now that us kids have matured into twenty-something form, what happened to our animated idols? Graphic artist Isaiah Stephens "All Grown Up" cartoon series, featured on his tumblr Izzy Doodle Dump, shows our beloved characters completely revamped — Stephens recreated the famous babies, school kids, and pre-teens into their college-aged counterparts.

Sampling from our favorite shows, Stephens reimagined characters from Rugrats, Rocket Power, The Wild Thornberrys, Hey Arnold, The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory and Recess. Undeniably so, all characters are extremely attractive. Holding to a more realistic human form than the disproportionate features often seen in all of the original cartoons — I'm talking to you, football head — Stephens not only matures our animated friends, but makes you look at Tommy Pickles and Chuckie Finster like you never have before.

While some faces may appear similar (see Squid from Rocket Power and Gus Griswald from Recess), this is likely because of Stephens' artistic style. Modern stylish touches are added to all characters including Spinelli's leather leggings, Bubbles, Buttercup, and Blossom's awesome matching zip-up tops, Dexter's iconic Ray Ban-like glasses and much more. And as if nothing has ever changed, Reggie Rocket still has it going on with her purple locks.
