Doing This Might Help Your Acne

At some point in our lives, we have all had someone tell us that water can help with various health concerns, but does drinking water really help acne? Water is less expensive than acne medication and more importantly, it has no side effects, so it's definitely an appealing option. For those reasons, I scoured the Internet to find some answers on whether or not water will really help clear up your skin.

According to YoDerm acne is more likely to develop when your body is full of toxins, and water helps us flush those toxins out of your system, therefore promoting our overall health. It's not that more water will necessarily cure a severe case of acne, but drinking more fluids may help keep your skin clear as long as you adopt other healthy behaviors. “Skin cells require water to function properly. Dehydration causes damage, accelerated aging, and inability to heal properly,” Dr. M. Christina Lee told YoDerm. “All skin conditions and diseases would become worse in a body not receiving proper nutrition or adequate hydration.”

Additionally, the publication also reports that drinking water can allow the skin to "self-moisturize," therefore reducing the need to over-produce oil. So, to answer the question: yes, staying well hydrated can help fight acne but likely will not cure it. Here are a few small lifestyle changes that will also help keep pimples away.

1. Washing Your Hands Before Washing Your Face

Not only do our hands pick up dirt during the day, but they also produce plenty of oil. If you don't wash your hand before using them to wash your face, you may be getting more dirt in your pores, according to New Health Guide.

2. Changing Your Pillow Cases Regularly

Our pillow cases often pick up oil and product from our hair, which means this residue could also be creeping into our pores at night. Because of this, sleeping on a dirty pillow case can actually cause acne, so was them regularly!

3. Always Using a Clean Towel

Towels accumulate dust and dirt from our bodies, so ideally, you should use a fresh towel (like wash cloth) to dry your face after washing, according to Beauty Editor.

4. Moisturize Everyday

5. Sanitize Your Phone Regularly

Keeping your phone sanitized at all times helps keep that grime off of your skin.

6. Always Remove Your Makeup Completely
