Stassi Comments On The Letter That Almost Cost Her

by Kristie Rohwedder

While I knew Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder has never been one to shy away from saying something totally vile when peeved, I didn't realize she was the type to pen a hostile note in which she mentions torching her then-place of employment. Welp, I guess I was wrong. Earlier this month, Bravo gave us the gift that is Vanderpump Rules Uncensored, an hour-long special that chronicles the making of the show's first season. As she waxed nostalgic about the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spinoff's casting process, Lisa Vanderpump chuckled about the one time Stassi Schroeder sent a letter in which she said that she "could burn [SUR] down."

Excuse me, Stassi did WHAT?! Much to my chagrin, Vanderpump did not elaborate.

On Tuesday’s episode of Schroeder’s podcast, Straight Up With Stassi, the ex-SURver responded to a few listener emails. And much to my delight, one listener asked for deets regarding that whole SUR letter thing. And, also much to my delight, Schroeder was more than happy to share the deets.

“Well, I did do that, but it sounds a little more intense than it was," Schroeder began. “I didn’t send a letter to the restaurant or to SUR or to Lisa. She never got it. I sent one to one of my friends who was the manager — and she’s actually still a really good friend of mine — and we got in a big fight. I just said, ‘I could burn this restaurant down.’ And I guess you shouldn’t say that ever because then that was passed along to Guillermo [Zapata] and Nathalie [Zapata] and Ken [Todd] and Lisa," Schroeder continued. "And yes, so Ken and Lisa then got involved and basically were like, ‘You might be fired soon, we might have to sue, we might have to file legal action.’ I was scared sh*tless.”

Wellllll, then.

“I was so scared that when Ken emailed me, Kristen [Doute] actually wrote my response to him via email because I was terrified, I couldn’t handle it," she recalled. "I never thought that they would see that. So yeah, I didn’t… I mean, I did and I didn’t. I guess I did. It wasn’t meant for anybody to see. I didn’t say, ‘I’m going to burn the…’ Whatever. I made a point. I guess that’s all that matters. You know? You sometimes need to make a point.”

OK. Well. It's clear Stassi was joking in the letter and wasn't making a serious threat. And really, there is a valuable lesson to be learned here, and that lesson is this: Kristen Doute is a hero.
