Will you be tuning in to watch a certain very special awards show this weekend? Well, it promises to be quite the show, and the pre-show red carpet shenanigans will be well worth a watch as well — so what time is the MTV Movie Awards red carpet?
MTV will be hosting a pre-show directly before the ceremony, and it will air from 7:30 until 8:00 p.m. EST, both on MTV itself, as well as their live streaming service, MTV All Access Live. There's not much info available about the show yet, but last year's, hosted by Kelly Osbourne, Jessie J, and Josh Horowitz, was a blast, so it should be a lot of fun.
Plus, there should be some pretty awesome red carpet moments coming our way — sometimes, the red carpet can be more fun to watch than the actual awards show itself. Now, that's not always the case (especially not with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart hosting, and Ariana Grande and Halsey performing), but I think we can safely agree that it's an important factor in the proceedings. What will presenters like Gigi Hadid and Olivia Munn wear? And how about the heavily-nominated stars of Star Wars: The Force Awakens ?
At any rate, red carpet drama is an especially important staple for the MTV Movie Awards — an award show where the fashion tends towards the fun, colorful, and occasionally outlandish.
After all, in its '90s heyday, it was home to everything from Alicia Silverstone's lace-up tie dye blouse to Kevin Spacey's red tinted glasses. Later, in the 2000s, it found itself home to an ultra-bronzed, ultra-platinum Paris Hilton, and even in its modern era, celebrities have been known to attend while wearing dragons.
Will the nominees, presenters, performers, and attendees wear similarly epic ensembles this year? Let's hope so!
