Khloe Kardashian Promoted Body Confidence For All

by Gina Jones 2

Khloé Kardashian's recent weight loss and new muscular frame have been a hot topic for clickbait, journalism, and critical essays alike as of late. But in her latest cover interview with Shape Magazine, Khloé Kardashian said she had body confidence well before the intense workouts and stricter diets that have led to the reality television star's current size and shape.

Kardashian revealed in 2015 that the weight loss she has undertaken has been somewhat rigorous, and came with a slight addiction to working out. But in the new interview, she noted that while the weight loss may have "empowered" her in some ways, it didn't give her any more confidence than she already had.

"[Before I lost weight], everybody else saw me in a different way, but I didn’t see myself that way. I still wore bodycon dresses back then; I didn’t cover up with a muumuu," she candidly told Shape. "Today I put in the work to get the curves I have and every bit of firmness. I feel empowered and badass that I was able to accomplish everything I have."

Personally, I appreciate Kardashian's honesty. She isn't pretending that she worked out for reasons other than losing weight and getting toned, but she is making sure that the public knows that confidence was never an issue for her before she lost said weight.

"I love my shape because I’ve earned every curve. I work hard in the gym to get it. But I also loved my shape before, when I was even curvier. I was always incredibly comfortable in my skin," she said, reinforcing the idea that self love doesn't have to come only to those of a certain size or shape. Although Kardashian has lost 35 pounds since last year, according to the interview, the fitness icon has loved herself regardless of the size label in her jeans.

As E! Online reported, her sister Kourtney Kardashian revealed through her app that working out helps with her anxiety. It's no wonder that the pair can often be seen Instagramming shots of themselves working out together. Even Kim K joined in on the action on National Siblings Day, when the three sisters shared shots of their "super soul Sunday sister sweat session."

Although exercise may be far from the way that I'd want to bond with my own family, it seems to be working for the Kardashian clan. And if Khloé Kardashian can find empowerment in her workout regime and weight loss, who is anyone to stop her? I can only thank her for preaching body confidence at all shapes, because folks of every size should get to rock a bodycon dress if they want to.
