Who Will Willem Dafoe Play In 'Justice League'?

The Green Goblin is joining the Justice League! ...sort of. After winning fan's hearts as Norman Osborn in the Sam Raimi-directed Marvel film, Spider-Man, actor Willem Dafoe is now ready to take on a whole new superhero universe by joining the cast of Zack Snyder's upcoming film, The Justice League: Part One. And, this time around, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Dafoe is actually said to be playing a "good guy"! While there's been no other word on what we can expect from him come November 17, 2017, when the movie's released, this is big. So, now fans are left with one major question: Who is Willem Dafoe playing in Justice League ?

In fact, aside from the pangs of general casting curiosity, his character mystery is actually a bigger deal than you might think. Why? Because as of right now, Dafoe is the only actor not yet linked to a role on the cast list. With all six members of the Justice League cast and set to appear (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg) and Spider-Man alum J.K. Simmons cast as Commissioner Gordon, fans now need to wrack their brains in hopes of figuring out what non-villainous character could still be missing from Justice League (and was no yet introduced in any way in Man of Steel or Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice). But, alas, let the speculation begin! Because there is no way that news like this — that is said to be "being kept under lock and key" — is just going to slide right on by. Here are some of the possible characters that Willem Dafoe could be playing.

Green Lantern Or Arrow

OK. I'm thinking that him playing one of these two characters is highly unlikely. But, being that neither Arrow or the Green Lantern have been cast for the film yet, it is definitely a possibility that he could be sporting the super-suit of one of these two characters. You never know!

Martian Manhunter

I'm actually in love with the idea of Dafoe playing the Martian Manhunter. Not only is the resemblance almost uncanny, but he's also one of the older and extremely powerful good guys that we have yet to really hear about being introduced on the big-screen. And we all know that Willem Dafoe can rock his color green!

Brainiac Or Darkseid

Yes, I know that they said he was playing a good guy. But, considering how great he was as the Green Goblin, I still can't help but think of Willem Dafoe as being yet another super villain. And, being that he's going to appear in both Part One and Part Two, who says he can't start off good and then turn bad by the time the second movie hits? If so, these characters have been mentioned before, so Brainiac and Darkseid are definitely on the table.

Retired Members Of The Justice Society Of America

Aside from Green Lantern and Arrow, there are tons of DC Comics characters who still have yet to hit the big-screen. That makes the options of characters both old and new nearly endless. And some of the most memorable retired members of the JSA? Personally, I've got my bets on Dafoe portraying characters such as Hawkman, Wildcat, Sandman, or Hourman.

But, while all of this is still speculation, what do we know for sure? That Dafoe will be spotted in both Justice League: Part One and Part Two. And my fangirl heart can barely handle the joy that is a Dafoe and Simmons reunion.
