Beauty standards may perpetuate the idea that plus size bodies have curves everywhere, but not all fat-identified people have a large chest, small waist, and wide hips. Likely because such bodies are represented far less often, plus size women with small boobs face their own issues when shopping.
"Plus size" is a term often used to help women over size 14 find clothing, but the term is not meant to imply that all of the babes who wear plus size clothing are shaped like an hourglass, or even that they wear the same size on the top and bottom. Much like searching for the perfect bikini top, certain shirts with molded cups or fitted chest piping may cause gaping on a smaller-chested woman.
On both ends of the size spectrum, there's a lot of body policing that goes on when it comes to "appropriate" dress based on one's chest size, all of which exists alongside outdated plus size fashion rules regarding covering one's body. While bustier women are regularly told to avoid halters and high-cut tops, small-chested plus size babes are regularly told to avoid bulky layers.
I'm more of the wear-whatever-you-damn-please-on-your-fat-body variety of thinking, regardless of one's chest size. All boobs are good boobs, after all. So this spring, I really want to see more small-chested plus size babes in all of their fatshion glory. Here are 17 styles of shirts to do just that in.
1. Off The Shoulder
Sweetheart Off-The Shoulder Top, $58, Ekineyo
Ekineyo's XS through 3X size range makes for some rad basics in an array of sizes. The ties on this off-the-shoulder top give it a romantic feel for a spring date.
2. Fitted Crop Top
Print Crop Top, $38, Chubby Cart Wheels
From this bold sunflower print to all-over French fry style, Chubby Cartwheels is the go-to shop for fun printed lycra crop tops. Everything is handmade, so the sleeve lengths are also customizable.
Girl About Easton Tunic in Brushstrokes, $39.99, Modcloth
Girl About Easton Tunic in Brushstrokes, $39.99, modcloth.com
Paired with a pastel-colored skinny pant, I can totally see this tunic making you the brightest dressed in the office — an award I would be happy to take home.
4. Tube Top
You can never go wrong with a basic tube top in a bright color for spring. If you've never tried out any of the teggings products from Re/Dress, this tube top is the right price to start your addiction.
5. Tie Blouse
Sleeveless Tie Blouse, $90, JIBRI
Having small boobs doesn't mean that you can't draw attention to your chest and this JIBRI blouse will bring the drama for day or night.
6. Flowy Halter
Light Floral Camisole, $18.99, GS Love
What better message could there be for a body positive babe embracing her small chest than this halter?
Polka Dot Keyhole Top, $29.99, Society-Plus
I usually fear that keyholes will leave too much space for the extra fabric that my boobs just aren't filling up. But the nice feature on this style is the extra reinforcement of the straps at the neckline.
The earth tone shade of this wrap means you can dress it up or down with more muted spring tones.

ASOS Curve T-Shirt in Rainbow Strip, $30, Asos
The idea that everything you wear as a plus size woman has to be "curve-hugging" is really not for me. This oversized tee features a spring-ready color palette and a print that says "eff your fashion rules."
The Caped Pansuit, $25, Love Lianca
I fell in love with this cape-style top after seeing it on plus size blogger GarnerStyle. The cut proves that you don't need a large chest to be a superhero of style.
Not all heroes wear capes or crop tops, oversized tees or tube tops, but you sure can this spring. No matter what size your chest is, everything is for you to wear if you so choose.
