One Topic Should Be Off Limits For Bravo Reunions

by Alaina Urquhart-White

I think most of us can agree that the absolute best part of any Bravo reality show like The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is the reunion at the end of each season. It's that special time when every little argument and controversy that occurred during the regular season gets rehashed and dissected. With Andy Cohen at the helm, the drama always reaches amazing new levels, and I welcome it with open arms. Most topics are usually completely open for discussion, because, after all, these people signed up to have their lives documented. But, one topic the Real Housewives stars should never mention cast members' children. It's bad territory to wonder into.

Parents are like grizzly bears. You don't mess with a grizzly bear's cub if you plan to keep your face attached to your skull. The same warning should be heeded when dealing with people and their offspring. It's fine to ruthlessly chat about any number of saucy topics because, let's be honest, there's always something salacious to gab about during these end of the season gatherings. These salacious slices are always exceedingly adult, though. Children have no place in the kind of gossipy and oftentimes aggressive environment that can often materialize around these casts of reality stars all dressed in their evening wear.

This unspoken rule was broken recently during an episode of the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills. The ladies alleged that Yolanda's children didn't have Lyme disease. Yolanda maintained they they do, and even felt the need to present her kids' health records on the show as proof. It's just really uncomfortable, in my opinion, to talk about someone else's kids like that. Children don't ask to be on these reality shows. Their parents are the ones who sign up for complete transparency. The kids' health, finances, and personal lives should be left out of the drama.

I can only hope that Yolanda's children (and the rest of their children) will be left out of any discussion during the final two parts of the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills reunion. I suppose not everyone understands how detrimental involving them can be.
