Dvsn Gets A Special Feature On Drake's 'Views'

by Maitri Suhas

On an OVO Sounds listening party on Beats 1 Thursday night, Drake finally dropped Views (formerly known as Views From The 6 ). Aubrey Drake Graham is all about the family thing, and his new album features all his talented friends from OVO Sound and beyond, including Rihanna, Future, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and an artist you may not have heard of — but who now you won't stop hearing about — dvsn. But who exactly is dvsn, who is featured on "Faithful"?

The R&B duo's identity was kept under wraps until pretty recently. Dvsn was signed to Drake's label OVO Sound at the end of February. Producer and OVO co-founder Noah "40" Shebib posted a photo of the dvsn logo, you guessed it, a division sign — or as he called it, "the line with two dots" — on his Instagram to mark the occasion, as Rap-up notes. Though dvsn's identity was ambiguous, the efficient sleuthing of the Internet narrowed suspicions down, pinpointing OVO Sound producer Nineteen85 and vocalist Daniel Daley as the dudes behind the divide.

The alt-R&B duo made waves with the release of their songs "The Line" and "With Me" back in September 2015; specifically, on September 5, 2015. In December, dvsn put out two more songs "Hallucinations" and "Too Deep." And just after they signed to OVO Sound in March, they announced their debut album, Sept. 5th, which was released on March 27.

Nineteen85, real name Paul Jefferies, is the producer behind some of your favorite Drake tracks: "Hotline Bling," "Hold On We're Going Home," and "One Dance." And though it isn't Drake's track, I have to give him a shout out for producing one of my favorite songs of any genre of all time: "Truffle Butter."

Daley is less well-known, though that's obviously changing quicky now that he is part of the OVO Sound family. The young vocalist was an up-and-comer in the Ontario hip-hop and R&B scene back in 2010, according to Complex. However, he was known to have worked with Nineteen85 even then.

If you haven't bought Views yet and are still waiting for Drake's album to become available for streaming, you can check out dvsn's tracks on SoundCloud. They are a great new addition to the OVO Sound family, and probably won't be going anywhere for a while — not only because of their talent but because Aubrey takes care of his Own.
