Sundress and bikini season may be approaching fast, but until then, it's wise to arm your wardrobe with essential staples, that can help you get through all those rainy days in-between. While you may have some rain boots on hand, investing in a good raincoat helps bring even more warmth and protection to your body. But to find your best raincoat match, it's important to consider what you'll actually need from your potential piece.
"Consider what attributes you need in a raincoat," style expert Constance Dunn explains to me over email. "Ask yourself if you need both warmth and rain protection. If so, how much of each? This can help fine-tune and speed your search, whether online or in a store."
To get the coat that best suits your needs, Dunn recommends scanning jacket labels thoroughly. Water resistant jackets are often recommended for light bouts of precipitation, while waterproof rain gear is best used for days spent in the heavy downpour.
But no matter what kind of piece you decide on, remember that wearing a raincoat doesn't have to mean your outfit is sabotaged. In fact, they're the perfect excuse to get out of your neutral comfort zone.
