How To Survive The 'Captain America' Marathon
May 5 this year won't just feature young professionals heading to their favorite tequila holes (Get it? Like watering hole!) to celebrate the Mexican victory over French forces in the Battle of Pueblo. I mean, that will still be a thing; there will still be people running around screaming "Happy Mexican Independence Day!" (which Cinco de Mayo isn't), but I'm choosing to instead think of the day as also "Captain America Day." And on this day, fans can take part in the Ultimate Captain America Marathon, which Entertainment Weekly reported is exactly what it sounds like: "a 691-minute Captain America movie marathon that will screen at select theaters around the country this Thursday, ahead of Friday’s release of Captain America: Civil War." But, how do you get tickets to the Captain America marathon?
First, a look at the deal you'll be getting for only $35, as shared on the Captain America official Facebook page: Select theaters will show all five movies where Captain America appears, aka Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron all leading up to the premiere of Captain America: Civil War. The Facebook post also states that fans will receive a "limited edition, first issue of the "Marvel: Avengers Alliance" comic series" commemorating your ability to sit for 12 hours, starting that morning, watching Chris Evans valiantly toss his shield around the silver screen. You can buy the tickets on Fandango.
So now we know how to get there, but how does one survives 12 hours of the Cap'n? Not that he's a tough face to watch but 12 hours is a long time. Here some survival tips, should you choose to accept this mission.
1. Stock Up On Snacks
Seriously, eat a hearty breakfast before you roll in there, and during one of the breaks get jiggy with some concession food snacks. You've earned it.
2. Wear Pants
Movie theaters get sooooo cold. Even The Hulk always wears pants.
3. Rock Some Comfy, Perhaps Fuzzy Socks
It's a movie pro-tip to take your shoes off during the film. Make sure you're wearing some cozy socks and that your feet don't smell. Perhaps Avenger-themed socks?
4. Take Frequent Bathroom Breaks
Just go in, look in the mirror, and make sure you're still alive.
5. Put That Phone On Silent
Nobody wants to get attacked by an insane fan who brought a huge replica of Thor's hammer.
6. Try To Find A Secluded Spot
You need some space to stretch out. You're not going to get that if you're sitting next to a superfan.
7. Indulge In Caffeine
You don't want to be asleep by the time the actual premiere starts. That's a serious waste of $35.
It's going to be a hell of a day, but it's (probably) worth it if you're very passionate about what's going on with Marvel's strongest team members. Fans, assemble!
