Eva Mendes & Ryan Gosling May Have Had Baby No. 2

by Kaitlin Reilly

In "what in the world" news, your favorite down-low celebrity couple may have dropped another surprise baby on us. According to TMZ, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes reportedly had their second baby together — a HUGE shock, considering very few people seemingly knew that Mendes was pregnant. According to the report, Mendes and Gosling, who is named as the father on the baby's birth certificate, decided on the name Amada Lee Gosling. The kicker? TMZ states that the birth certificate reveals that Amada Lee was born on April 29 — which means it's been a whopping two weeks since Mendes gave birth, if in fact she has. Bustle has reached out to Gosling and Mendes' representatives for comment but has not yet heard back yet.

If this crazy baby news is true, it would mean that this is the second pregnancy that Mendes has kept quiet. Mendes gave birth to her and Gosling's first child together, Esmeralda Amada, in September of 2014, but just as with this alleged pregnancy, Mendes kept an extremely low profile. Though some rumors swirled around her pregnancy at the time, the Place Beyond The Pines actress laughed then off, even going on the Ellen Degeneres Show in February of 2014 to dispel any rumors that she was having a baby. Given the timeline, it seems that Mendes was fibbing to protect her and Gosling's privacy — which just reiterates how private this couple is.

Mendes' interview with Violet Grey, which she did not long after giving birth, stated her desire to keep her first pregnancy private:

Whether we like it or not, privacy is going to be very difficult for Esmeralda. I think it’s unfair, but that’s our reality. Ryan and I decided early on to give her as much privacy as we could. And my pregnancy was the first opportunity to give her that.

If the rumors are true, then it sounds like Mendes and Gosling have a good reason to keep quiet about their new baby. We may appreciate these two as actors and public personalities, but just like all of us, they deserve to keep their private life just that — private.
