Is 'Project Runway' Season 16 Happening?

by Courtney Lindley

Guess what fans of Project Runway will not be saying to the iconic series anytime soon? Auf wiedersehen, that's what. (It's German for goodbye, in case you haven't been privy to Heidi Klum's famous farewell and/or have never seen the show.) Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Project Runway Season 16 will be happening. But that's not all. According to the same source, Project Runway will be extended for Season 17 and Season 18 as well.

Back in November of 2015, shortly after the fashion series concluded Season 14, it was picked up for Season 15. Though it seems fans were hopeful about the show continuing on even past that (it's such a staple for its network, Lifetime), these additional seasons feel like a big win. Plus, Project Runway's two spinoff showsProject Runway All Stars and Project Runway: Junior have been renewed for two seasons and one season respectively. Are you so happy you could cry? Same. But as Tim Gunn says, "There's no crying in fashion." Oh, wait no. He says "Make it work." My bad.

From the moment Project Runway hit American television, it was destined to be a hit. A competition show that involved true fashion experts, one of earth's biggest super models, thought provoking designs, and Gunn. And also Gunn?

Though over the years Project Runway has tried to shake things up and surprise audiences with plot twists (i.e. team challenges) and setting changes (remember when they went to L.A.?), it's no secret that the show — throughout its ups and downs — has claimed this niche. It seems that the networks understand that. The deal to keep Project Runway, All Stars, and Junior sashaying down our metaphorical TV runways was all thanks to Lifetime's parent A&E Networks and the Weinstein Company. So if you see them, give them a big hug for me. Thank you.

There's only one thing left to say: You're either in or your out, and it's pretty clear at this point that all things Project Runway are in. For at least three more seasons.
