How To Vote For Miss USA 2016

by Jessica Willingham

Are you ready for Miss USA? The 65th rendition of the competition kicks off this weekend in Las Vegas, and there's a huge twist: For the first time ever, a 52nd competitor will be chosen via social media, and you can help. Here's how to vote for Miss USA and help pick the winner from the comfort of your couch.

In case you were wondering, here's the back story for the legendary pageant: Miss USA was founded by Catalina Swimsuits in 1952 to promote the company, and feeds directly into the Miss Universe competition. Today, the competition offers scholarships and the biggest perk of all, a shot at Miss Universe — and that blingin' crown!

Traditionally, only one representative from each state and the District of Colombia compete. This year, however, America gets to choose the 52nd competitor via social media. Excited and want to participate? Here's how.

Starting Wednesday, June 1, you can cast your vote for your favorite contestant to secure a place in the Top 15 on June 5 through the Miss U app. According to the app's press release, fans will have a virtual seat on the panel as a real-time judge and will be able to vote during the swimsuit, evening gown, and final question rounds, as well as the Top 3. So cool!

Fans can also get the latest news, photos, and video from The Miss Universe Organization’s titleholders and contestants, as well as play along with daily trivia, polls, and personality quizzes, according to the press release. Plus, it's free! If you're interested, you can download the app here.

Don't forget to tune in to FOX on Sunday June 5 at 7pm EST to see who will get this crown this year!
