What We Know About Jenna's Return On 'PLL'

by Amy Mackelden

Theories about Season 7 of Pretty Little Liars are alive and well, and being fuelled by showrunner I. Marlene King herself. While we found out a little while ago that Jenna would be returning to Rosewood to stir up some trouble in the seventh season, very little has been revealed about what Toby's creepy step-sister is up to. Actress Tammin Sursok was absent from the show throughout Season 6, so it's exciting news that her iconic, and often troublesome, character will back on the show once more. But what does Jenna's return on Pretty Little Liars mean exactly?

Gradually, through photos, tweets, and interviews, we've been finding out more about what Season 7 of Pretty Little Liars will entail. In an interview with Cosmopolitan in May 2016, the actress discussed what the future holds for Jenna. Sursok said of her character, "She's definitely involved in a lot of exciting, tantalizing things that the viewers want answers for. We still tread the line of, 'Is she blind? Is she not blind?' She's gonna come back with some gusto, and I'm in most of the season, so it's pretty exciting." This is obviously huge news for fans of the show, and could signify that Jenna will play an incredibly important role in events that unfold in Season 7.

In an Instagram captioned with the words, "Night shoots on @prettylittleliars #jenna #prettylittleliars," Sursok's photo shows the actress wearing a purple hoodie. The only thing we can discern from this is that much of Jenna's role in Pretty Little Liars Season 7 takes place at night. This is hardly unusual, as a lot of the action on the horror-inspired show happens when it's dark, but it might connect Jenna with the mysterious Uber A, who we're all patiently waiting to be revealed.

In an interview with Teen Vogue in May 2016, Tammin Sursok said of Jenna, "You’ll find out a lot of answers from her past love interests," and, "She now has a sense of herself. She’s done. She knows herself, and it’s time to fight for who she is." While these comments still have an air of mystery about them, it's clear that Jenna provides some drama in Season 7 of Pretty Little Liars, and that her love life is in part responsible. It'll be interesting to finally see what's happened to Jenna during the five year time jump. This, and many more Pretty Little Liars things, are sure to be discussed on Bustle's very own PLL podcast, Taking This One To The Grave:

When asked by Cosmopolitan who she thought Uber A might be, Sursok said, "Part of me wants it to be me. I've been made the villain for so long and then people didn't think I was the villain, so it would be so fun to go, 'Actually I was the villain!'" This might only be conjecture, but it's also possible that Jenna turns out to a villain, and one who's impossibly good at reinventing herself. Sursok was also asked by Teen Vogue if she knew who the new Pretty Little Liars villain was, to which she said, "I don’t know anything. I don’t think anyone does!" It looks like, for now at least, we'll have to keep on guessing the identity of Uber A, but I wouldn't count Jenna out. Not yet, anyway.
