Rie's Death On 'Feed The Beast' Could Be A Mystery

Feed the Beast on AMC weaves the danger of organized crime into the world of fine dining, so twists and turns are to be expected. One potential mystery is introduced early on. What happened to Tommy Moran's wife on Feed the Beast ? David Schwimmer's character is in mourning, but there is almost definitely more to this story.

The extended trailer shows that Rie Moran died in 2015. In the pilot episode, we learn that she was killed in a hit and run. Also that she loves peonies. Because of her death, Tommy is in danger of losing custody of his son T.J. — who hasn't spoken since it happened. Rie worked as a chef at the restaurant with Dion, and Tommy Moran was their sommelier. It's an idyllic past that the two friends are clearly still chasing.

Rie is played in photos and flashbacks by Christine Adams, a British actress you may recognize from Terra Nova, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., or Pushing Daisies. However, I don't think the fact that she appears on the show means that she's secretly alive or anything. Feed the Beast doesn't feel like that kind of show. Still, that doesn't mean that there isn't something fishy about her death. It's interesting to me that Moran only says that his wife was "killed" a year ago, instead of "died" or referring to the incident as an accident.

Was Rie's death intentional? Could Woichik's people be the ones that hit her? He did dine at their restaurant, so there is an established connection. Dion is also working for him in some capacity. We know that when Rie died, Dion went off the rails, burned down the restaurant, and found himself in jail soon afterwards. I wonder if Tommy's best friend was somehow responsible for his wife's death? Perhaps she was killed because of something he did. As Feed the Beast continues to unravel, and both Tommy and Dion's pasts catch up to them, I would not be surprised if we find out someone was responsible for that car accident.
