Kristin Chenoweth Totally Nails The 'GoT' Theme

by Kristie Rohwedder

I gotta admit, I did not know that I needed a Kristin Chenoweth cover of the Game of Thrones theme, but now that I’ve heard it, I can’t imagine life without it. Before Sunday night’s episode of GoT aired, the Tony Award-winning multihyphenate shared a video in which warms up her majestic vocal cords by belting out the instrumental tune that plays during the HBO fantasy series’ title sequence (h/t Entertainment Weekly). And in classic Chenoweth style, her voice cuts through every last note like a dagger made of dragonglass.

...Er, wait. Maybe her voice isn't quite dragonglass. First of all, her singing does not literally or metaphorically transform the notes into White Walkers and/or kill White Walkers (now that'd be something!). And secondly, uh... I think the White Walker thing is enough of a reason to toss out this metaphor altogether. Sorry about that.

Wait, wait, wait. I'm going to give it another shot: Her voice cuts through every last note like a Valyrian steel blade. There we go! Now we're cookin' with Drogon fire!

Now, go throw on a blarf, untangle your good headphones, and drink in Glinda the Good Witch’s operatic rendition of the beloved Ramin Djawadi-composed theme below.

My goodness. The Longclaw of voices, I tell ya!
